High protein bad?

Some good bacteria, digestive enzymes, etc...will help you absorb and process food better. I personally can't relate to the protein fart thing, because I have never had a problem "processing" it.

Where do you find them? Pills, food?

too much protein can be a bad thing, but each individual is different.

It also depends on what sources the protein is derived from. If it's primarily from red meat, then this could cause problems.

Just make sure you are eating plenty of fiber.........lot's of vegetables. I know vegetables are not really considered bodybuilding foods, but there's not much point in being big if you're dead.

I couldn't agree more, VG. Sometimes people focus SO much on what to avoid in their diets that they forget to stop and ask what the food has to offer. It's amazing how 300-400g of protein a day can be treated as an accomplishment, while the same person is deficient in most every vitamin and mineral. What do they think fuels the processes that break down those macros and put them to use?

It greatly upsets me when i see healthy young people going on these low carb diets, high protein diets or high carb diets, low protein diets etc.

You need a balanced diet, PERIOD. Too many people get caught up in what will lose them 20 pounds or what will gain them 20 pounds but lose site of the bigger picture which should be about MAINTAINING OVERALL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING........which means having a balanced diet. A balanced diet will still lead to muscle growth and it will also lead to fat loss for those who are looking at the respective ends of the spectrum, so why then all this hyped up nonsense of unbalanced diets which have become the fad these days.

Spomeone please help me to understand.

2x my body weight (bw?) in protein would be 500 lbs of protein. I don't think that is physically possible to consume in one day.

Did you phrase your question correctly?

VG, again, I agree. If I'm not deliberately trying to cut (which isn't the healthiest of processes or states, irrespective of end result), my diet is balanced...for me (I had a very non-traditional diet growing up).

One of the things I understand least is Atkins. When was it decided that just because you want to eat a high protein, high fat, low carb diet you are entitled to pick the shittiest of foods from each category?

Hamburger dripping with fat, fatty cheeses, and sausage, etc...

Try Chicken and broc!

I also know people that won't touch a potato due to the carb content. After you take out the fiber it's not too bad, not to mention that it's pretty much a vitamin capsule!

Sofa, I meant 2x your bodyweight in grams. For me, it would be 340grams, for a 200lb person it would be 400g daily.

VG, what are the best vegetables to eat and how many should someone eat daily?

What about fruits? Are they as important?

You can get pills at health food stores, and maybe in the pharmacy section of your local department or grocery store. Things like L. Acidophilus, B. Bifidum, and B. Longum (the 3 that are in the pills I'm taking now).

Yogurt contains live L. Acidophilus too.
