HIGH GI post workout!

I know why I should drink/eat some high GI carbs after I have lifted weights... To fill up the glycogendepoes, get in an anabolic phase and increase the insulin level so that the protein(aminoacids) can be moved as quickly as possible to the muscles.

But after I have done cardio(diet for losing weight and cardio is not my thing, hehe) WHY is high GI carbs needed? You havn't used your muscles so much(legs more than others though), so they should be fine just eating some regular food. And let's say I'm doing keto, then I have never filled glycogendepoes, so why fill them up after cardio?
I hear someone say you have to fill the glycogendepos after cardio to keep the metabolism high, is this right. In that case, why?

I know a lot about the body(even though it might not sound like it), so if you have a deep explanation about this subject then I would love to read it!

Perhaps there is no deep explanation for it. I've never heard of anyone forcing you to eat high GI carbs post cardio. I think I would simply eat carbs in general after cardio as it is a "safe" time to eat them. Contrary to popular belief you DO burn glycogen during cardio, just not as much as a weight training session. Unless you are in ketosis then there is no way your body will magically burn fat the instant you start cardio. It will preferentially burn glycogen until it either runs out or realizes it doesn't need to as the exercise is only moderate.

Another thing to realize is that while dieting cardio can quickly become catabolic. You don't want to burn up muscle so when you're done you eat some carbs to stop your body from eating the muscle. Do they need to be high GI? Probably not, but it ensures you shuttle the nutrients in quickly and get out of catabolic mode asap.

you should eat high glycemic carbs for the 1st 4 hours of carb up day then goto lower GI carbs-this was explained in body opus by duchaine

Yes, but I would like to know _why_ ?
