Hi there ^_^

Well here I go

I'm Nancy, I was born and raised in Connecticut, but currently live in Costa Rica, I was very this as a child then in puberty got chubby then young adult (19) I started swimming and walking 3 miles a day and lost almost 20 pounds in 30 days :eek2: but then started working graveyard shift and put on all I had achieved..... :xeye:

I'm currently 5.1 and 163 pounds :goof:
My goal is 115-120 pounds body fat is 30% (isn't that something....) I don't have a specific date I'm just trying my best to get there, getting fast would be nice but I rather do it right and in a healthy way to make sure it wont harm me.
I currently go to the gym 3 times a week, it includes 30 min of cardio (eliptical machine) and weights for chest, back, arms, legs, etc the weight varies in legs I always do at least 30pds (110lbs in press) and arms 15 pounds minimum in arms/chest, I went to the gym for about 2 months then they closed for christmas then I got a patient for a month (I'm a psychologist) and couldnt go, I went back and have been there for 2 weeks....

I want to swim but have had problems finding a place open after i get out of work (I work 6:30a.m. to 3:30p.m.)

Meal plan.... oh boy :RADAR
I ate a lot of crap, and only twice a day, I recently changed my meal plan to 5 meals a day (3 main and 2 snacks) for breakfast I either eat cereal (the multigrain honey kind) for snak I eat a banana or some watermelon, lunch is usually rice and chicken or rice and meat, rice and fish, etc (rice is almost always in the equation) or garlic pasta next snack is ussually more watermelon, cantaloupe or mango, after that at night I'll eat something similar to lunch... I know it's not the best but I get up at 5 a.m. leave work almost at 4p.m hit the gym til 7a.m. get home by 8, by the time I shower and cook it's past 9:30 and I have to go to bed.... so I'm a bit torn as per eating/cooking

I practiced tae-kwon-do since I was 8 to like 16 yrs old (I'm a shamefully retired black belt) therefore have a bit of an issue with my calfs and any impact excersize causes swelling, that's why I do eliptical or like to swim

That's my life story :twirl:

I've tried evomine-x, Hydroxycut and Hoohia Gordonii... not much kick from them, Hoodia did help with craves sometimes, have some Dren/drenbuterol coming my way let's see how that goes, I've read about Clen... but I'm a little too scarred to go down that road... at least not yet

Any comments good or bad are welcome

welcome to elite girl. You are going to find that we will do more then just give you some advice here on this site. We are a family and I welcome you on behave of the rest of us to this family.

I tend to let the woman give the advice to the other woman, and maybe throw in a little of my own with some encouragement as well. You will love it here (I hope) and the ladies will post up to help you out real soon.

I can say this. Just having the will to come here and post up shows you got everything it takes to make this happen for yourself. You are already on your way. Welcome to ef girl.

Want to welcome you to EF also. I'm not an expert at all so I'll leave the "advice giving" to the experts. But when I joined in Oct 08 I was 130lbs (I'm 5'5") and am down to 118lbs. One member actually made a meal plan for me that worked well with things I like and with the job I have. So hang in there and you'll reach your goal. Mine was 120 so I'm very happy with where I'm at.
All good things come in time and with hard work - you sound motivated and determined, so good luck.

Hi Nancy, welcome!

You have a good start by having 5 meals a day. You just need to change what you're eating before you get to use any fat burners. This will help you burn body fat by increasing your metabolic rate.
This is an example of what you can have:

Meal #1 3 egg whites and 1/3 cup of oatmeal or cream of buckwheat.
#2 protein shake if you're having one.
#3 Chicken or turkey or fish or tuna fish with a salad and 1/2 cup of brown rice or quinoa or couscous. Make sure is 1/2 a cup not eyeballing it. I know how much rice is consumed in hispanic countries.
#4 Same as 3, but with vegetables. You can also have yams.
#5 Fish and vegetables.

If you want a snack you can have an apple or berries and some almonds.

Drink lots of water and have green tea.

These are some food choices:
Protein:
Chicken
Tuna
Venison
Buffalo
Eggs
Turkey
Fish
Protein powder

Slow burning/Complex carbs:

Oatmeal
Sweet potato/Yams
Beans
Grape nuts
Brown rice
Cream of buckwheat

Fibrous carbs:

Green leafy lettuce
Broccoli
Asparagus
String beans
Okra
Spinach
Cauliflower
Cabbage
Eggplant
etc..

Fats:

Olive oil
Nuts
Flaxseed oil
coconut oil (caps)
Natural PB
Fish oil

Welcome to Elite. I think you will find the answer to all your questions. Even better you have found a group of women who stick together and support each other on the way to their goals.
Keep posting as your process develops! :)

hey girl, welcome!

I can't read everything now, but later today I'll take a look at your post and see if I can help - specifically with training and drugs :-)

Thank you so much for the welcome :qt:

I'm a little slow motion today because I'm still aching from the gym... that's what I get for stopping for several months :s

I guess the universe is cosmically allign/sync'd to help me get in shape :eek2:
Today at work they launched something called the AWFit Fitness challenge... which reads

Society's attitude towards health and fitness has changed over the past few years. We are all much more aware of the need to be positive about our health and we recognize the importance of physical fitness more than ever before. This is the main reason why We have created the AWFIT Challenge.

This challenge will give you the opportunity to become a member of a select group that is going to make a change, share their experiences, and improve their quality of life.

What should I do in order to participate?

· Reply to this email with the following information:
Team Members name and their current schedules. (5 Members
per Team)
Besides the paperwork, this is how the Challenge is going to work:

· The program itself is going to last 6 months, beginning in March.
· We will have an initial Evaluation Phase for all of the contestants. During this Phase, weight and other key factors are going to be measured.
· There will be evaluations every 15 days in order to check for individual and group progress.
Every 2 months, we will award prizes for the best Team and Individual Performance

Interesting:rolly:
Now I'll have support from my co-workers and husband (he works with me) which will be great!!!! I guess things are looking up ^_^

Welcome! Isn't it just so much fun starting back? all the perks and (aches) that come with it, i really hope to see you around more!:)

I wouldn't call it fun.... jaja, it's more like a reminder of better days, the only good part is that my trainer is pushing me harder.
I hope to come in to the forum when I'm at work, so I'll be here Monday -Saturday 6:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. ^_^

That is pretty cool that you will have a support system in your regular life. Take it and run with it. Make sure to keep posting and letting us know how you are doing!

I'm new also, so from one newbie to another, WELCOME! I've never tried Clen, been curious, but I've heard lots of bad things along with the good things.. hopefully someone with more experience can give you the answers you're looking for.

Well 4 days to the gym this week again ^_^

I don't know if my routine is too soft or strong or what, my trainer at the gym made it for me, thing is I don't know how the machines are called :o

Let me put it this way, I come in and do 30 min of cardio in eliptical machine at intensity 6 in the weight loss or mixed course, the 150 abs then off to the machines...

On the first one I do 4x 20 repetitions with 20 pounds
On the second one I do 4x 20 repetitions with 40 or 50 pounds
On the third one I do 4x 20 repetitions with 40 or 50 pounds
On the fourth one I do 4x 20 repetitions with 60 pounds
On the fifth one I do 4x 20 repetitions with 10 pounds
On the sixth one I do 4x 20 repetitions with 30 pounds
On the seventh one I do 4x 20 repetitions in 3 different leg positions (middle, middle top and top corners) with 110 pounds
On the eight one I do 4x 20 repetitions with 10 or 20 pounds
On the ninth one I do 4x 20 repetitions (both inwards and outwards position) with 50 or 60 pounds

I usually work just legs or just arms and chest, in arms he also has me take the 10 pound dumbbells and do 3x 15 repitition or 4x 20 repitition (depends on his mood jaja) of each of those 4 excersizes in the tenth image, along with 4x 20 repetitions of another in which I kinda pull on a rope  (http://kbierek.powweb.com/shapefit-pics/triceps-exercises-triceps-pushdowns-with-rope-attachment.gif)

Sorry for being silly and so "illustrative" jaja, tell me, what do you think....!?

As you are new to training, what you are doing is great to get your body used to the movements.

As you are new to training, you will put on some muscle, or as most people refer to it 'tone up'.

You may find that you will need to modify your training routine as you will adapt to this one.

What I recommend for women is to train exactly the same way that men train.

As we don't have the same hormone profile as men, we don't develop muscle the way men do.

Basically this will mean training with free weights, barbells and dumbells and some of the plate loading machines, and training with intensity, so heavy weights with lower reps, rule of thumb around 8-12.

The beauty of training full on is that you can train about three times a week for 30 min to maintain a great physique.

Ok so I'm not that wimpy jaja....
Almost every week I modify the routine mostly adding weight because what was hard 2 weeks ago is now too simple today....

There's this big @ss dude at my gym (he could probably bench press me like 50 times and then break me in half) and yesterday I was lifting 50 pounds (img 2) and he told me "sweety you may wanna try only lifting 20 otherwise your gonna get all muscular

Due enlighten my ignorance on this question:
I DO want to get muscular but of course I'm quite chubby/fat, do I have to concentrate full on losing fat first or can I do both muscle and burn fat?

You can do both as a newbie to training, put on muscle and take off fat.

Take full advantage of this, as it doesn't happen very often or at all when you have been training awhile.

People have really odd ideas about women and muscle.

Muscle will give your body shape and women start to lose muscle at the age of 30.

I posted quite a bit of information about why women should weight train and try and put on muscle in the training sticky at the top of this forum if you are interested to read more.

I did read it, I also read the one about weirdos in the gym thinking girls cant handle weight and other girls thinking they'll look like hulk if they lift weights :)

Not to be impatient but I've ben in the gym for a month now and havent lost a single pound... I'm pretty sure I didnt lose fat and gain muscle :D

That could be a number of things. Water retention, you decreased your meals, snacking too much, your menses. Give yourself some time and stay consistent. I know is hard to stay consistent at first, but you'll get there..

Water retention I really don't know.... have been same weight for months now, not a pound less or mode varies :o, my meals actually increased to 5 a day (versus 2 a day I used to make), snacking I've drecreased around 70-50% and my new snacks instead of brownies and bread are Special K bars, 100 calorie diet bars, banana or watermellon.... so I am a little disapointed with the fact that I started eating better both in quantity and quality, started excersizing pretty strong and am exactly were it started at.... must admit it saddens me but I will of course continue in the same track, I want this to be my life style not just a way to be thin....

This is about calories in and calories out. If you're eating more calories then you're burning, then that's the reason why you're on the same weight. If you have increased your meals from 2 to 5 a day that doesn't mean you should have 5 full meals. They should consist of smaller meals. Most women don't have enough calories, but when you we tell someone to eat more, what happens is that they go wild. I'm not saying you are, but you have to count calories as well. If you have a snack you have to take into consideration that there are calories there as well.

If you're having 5 meals, you don't need spacial K, bananas and watermelons.
GET RID of the special K bar. Don't snack for a while.
Can you tell me what those 5 meals consist of?

That said, don't worry; you're still going the right direction. Just be aware of what you put into your system.

My meals mainly go like this

6 a.m. I eat either multigrain cereal (sweetened with splenda and has 75% less sugar than others) or have a shake (kind of like a slim fast type)

9-10 a.m. I eat either a banana, watermellon, an apple or a special K bar,

12 p.m. I eat some sort or protein (meat, chicken, fish, etc) with rice, vegetable(bolied not buttery) or black beans,

2 p.m. I have the same as the one from 10a.m.

7-8p.m. I eat something similar to what I had for lunch but with brocolli or any vegetable

I do not "sneak" anything in, this and water is literally all that goes in me.... Am I doing it wrong?

I would recommend you read the ingredients on the cereal.
These are a few of my fav brekkies:

40-50 g oatmeal (or buckwheat/rye/spelt flakes)
20-40 g whey protein (plain or vanilla)

2-3 shredded wheat biscuits
20-40 g of whey protein

Above with small piece of fruit or berries, typically 100 g

OR

100 g of chicken breast with 4 oatcakes

Milk is ok in oats/shredded wheat, organic is preferable

9-10 a.m. I eat either a banana, watermellon, an apple or a special K bar,

I would recommend you eat protein here. You can make your own snack bars/oatmeal protein flapjacks, protein cookies etc.

12 p.m. I eat some sort or protein (meat, chicken, fish, etc) with rice, vegetable(bolied not buttery) or black beans,

I find rice puts me to sleep, so I would have something similar but with baby new potatoes or sweet potatoe, swede/rutabaga or turnips for my carb, or this red lentil bolognese thing I love.

Just check the quantities and the calories/protein/etc.

When are you training?

You are doing great so far, just more protein and a few tweaks.

I would limit fruit to mornings and/or before and/or after training.

You will have to experiment a bit to see what works best for you.

I also have coffee and all sorts of teas everyday.

12 p.m. I eat some sort or protein (meat, chicken, fish, etc) with rice, vegetable(bolied not buttery) or black beans. (Have the protein with vegetables and 1/2 cup of rice)

2 p.m. I have the same as the one from 10a.m. Ok!

7-8p.m. I eat something similar to what I had for lunch but with brocolli or any vegetable. Great!

You're not doing anything wrong, you're just learning.
In fact, you're doing great for the most part. I'll highlight how you should make some changes.

Don't worry. As Thandie said you are already heading in the right direction. I have a feeling she will give you a sample meal plan that will supercharge your results.
You will find out real quick that eating the right foods, at the right time, in the right portions is everything. Its pretty awesome when you get to watch your body make the changes you have always wanted.

Just to add a quick note - you may want to try caloris cycling. Keep your weekly calorie consumption the same but eat more calories on your strength training days then your other days.

So glad your here! You'll break through this!!

Can we talk about your workouts again? Remind me how long you have been doing that routine you outlined earlier. Are you working with a trainer at your gym for every session? I'd like to help you.

Also, can you remind me how many calories you are consuming per day? Do you wear a heart rate monitor so that you know the intensity of your workouts? If so, how many calories do you burn per workout?

I've been on that routine for a month, the gym trainer helps me out (breaths down my throat  and makes sure I do it all right , every week or so adds more weight) honestly don't know my calorie intake  I dont wear a heart monitor, may have to buy one online (very expensive here in CR, all health related stuff is pricey here I have to buy it on ebay, amazon. etc:() I do know I'm kinda doing it right because my trainer is a psycho, my heart feels pretty "pumpy" and I sweat a LOT....

Interesting.... yesterday I was at the pharmacy and just out of curiosity I asked for Clenbuterol since I wanted to know if it's sold over the counter or with prescription here in CR... it seems to be over the counter.... Clenbuterol 20mcg 20 tabs about $9.50 for the box.... I'm a bit too afraid of pills to use it... that and my very high bf....

This is the box I saw.... It's probably a Generic since says NOVEGAM in big letters and Clenbuterol below it, I couldn't see the dosage, I believe it's 20mcg 20 tabs

Keeps getting weirder.... yesterday at the gym the trainer weight me again I'm 4 pounds heavier... yet my bodyfat is still the same (35%) he said I'm probably getting a bit more muscular but it is still weird I haven't lost weight or bf, he said to give it a month to see if the BF % changes...

Good stuff! You will gain a little muscle mass and may do that faster than losing bodyfat. It is very common. As I'm sure you've seen others say - diet is key to reducing your bf. It is impossible to out train a bad diet.

Glad to here your working with a trainer - just make sure he isn't doing "girl" stuff with you. Lift heavy and get all the basic moves down.

Keep us posted!

Not at all, he's a psycho actually... If he doesn't see pain in me he'll add more weight... little bastard wont give me a written routine because he changes it constantly , he finally has me doing real weight lifting(bench press) with my arms and chest on this machine https://www.mundowellness.com/xcart/costarica/images/T/GSRM40.gif I'm doing 20, 4 times with 25 pounds, started it with 10 last week and moved it to 25 this week ^_^
I am still at similar "visual" body fat (in other words I look just as fat as I did :qt:) but now my stomach is all soft and wobbly :rolleyes:trainer told me it's because the "process has started" and I'm gradually loosing weight and gaining shape... All I know is I'm jiggly  but I'm hanging in there, drinking 2/3 gallon every day and going to the gym 3-4 times a week... I must admit I ate cake today though.... shame on me :P

Keep kicking butt!
On your off days try to do some "active rest". I like to go for a walk or a hike... something that keeps my body moving. Its a sneaky way of getting the results to come quicker.

Now doing 35 in that same one... getting better :)

Cold/laringitis totally messed me up, was lifting great and making progress, will try to be back in gym on Monday... I missed a whole week.... on the "brighter side" it happened to be my period week, at least it wasn't a "normal" week :)

Did I hear you say you DON'T know how many calories you consume? Is your trainer working with you on your diet as well, or just with workout? One thing that has always helped me when I'm not getting the results I think I should be seeing, is to make an accurate diary of EVERYTHING I eat in a day, measureing and weighing everything, then I plug it into FITDAY to see where I'm at. It works for me, but then I'm a numbers freak ;) Just a thought. Great progress on da muscles! I hate those bf% measuring devices. They are so inaccurate, and can vary widely depending upon what you've eaten/haven't eaten/drank prior to taking the test. The mirror & a tape measure are much better!

Mirror and tape dont lie  I also took pics... I felt kinda unattractive though :( but I'll get there.... eventually, haven't been to the gym due to my cold

Can someone help me out with how much green tea a day should I drink for it to be healthy/good for me.....?

Hi Nan!

Have 3 cups a day, or more if you can. I have 2 large and one 8oz cup of green tea a day. However, don't forget to drink your water. Tea is a natural diuretic and you need to hydrate yourself again as you drink tea.

BTW, I am your mentor, if you want me to be. Just ask what you need help with. I generally don't give information unless the person wants it.

Thanks for your kind words!

Be careful.... I might take you up on it and pick your brain! :o :)

Well, today I go back to the gym, gonna get all measeured up again and start over, I still have a very fragile throat so the Dr told me I can't do cardio or ger my heart rate to high, so I'm probably just gonna do abbs and weights, no cardio.... I'm gonna learn to use those huge yoga ball thingies I have a reebok one at home that I actually deflated :o I'm gonna pump it back up and start using it, I'm also snacking on these healthy peanut flavored rice cakes I bought at a chinese specialty store, I also got that pure green tea, 1 tb spoon makes like 500 ml (2 cups) so it's really good, yesterday I took 2 cups, Im gonna try to make it 2 liters (a bit over half a gallon)

I was wondering if there was something "extra" per se I can take, I'm eating pretty clean and going back to the gym, supplement-wise is there anything else that can help, was told Clen wont do much due to my high BF% (like 30% :() was thinking lipostim or some of the stuff I've seen here but not sure, I took Dren (drenbuterol) which was doing wonders for me but stopped due to the cold medication since didnt want any interaction, I lost a bit more of BF and could start to see some veins in my arms which I didn't see before, got more muscle in arm too, will start taking again, have a 15 day supply still left.... any thoughts on anything else that can be helpful?

Mirror and tape dont lie  I also took pics... I felt kinda unattractive though :( but I'll get there.... eventually, haven't been to the gym due to my cold

When ever I am sick I tighten my diet up extra clean. It is amazing the difference it makes when you get back in the gym. Changes will happen still without working out!:)

Well I´ve decided to post some picks (no making fun.... :p)

Looking good, girl! Making progress.
Keep it up!!

^_^ thnx

The calf/arms area dont have much fat, you can actually see the muscle pretty well marked (mostly in person :p) which means most of my very high bodyfat is in my thighs, caboose and belly :(

Thandie.... any supplement you feel comfortable saying might be ok? lipostim, etc or A. am I too chuby for that kinda stuff to work B. that kinda stuff don't really do much....?

Felt embarrased to upload pics, but I am who I am and I look how I look, I'll make peace with it but will try to improve it :)

Supplements are best when you want to burn the last layers of body fat. They only work for a short while, so your nutrition is what's going to help you get/stay lean. Keep working and lean muscles will show up when you least expected.

No need to be embarrassed; you're work in progress!

You'll be really glad that you took those pictures. I wish I had the courage to post my pictures. As I read your posts one thing stood out- your progress. You've stayed the course, lost some body fat, gained some definition and gleaned some new knowledge I'd say you are doing a great job. JCK

Girl, never ever be embarrassed of your body. All women are beautiful and quit honestly, many of us on here are not healthy due to our diets, crazy training routines, low body fat and supplements. I'd take my health over my body being lean any day.

You are making such good progress. I love your consistency and determination. We can learn something from you!

I agree with Thandie, supplements are most effective on that last little bit. I will say however that Lipostim is used to boost your workout and I think you could benefit from that now.

You're an inspiration~

RADAR

I thought I would just say Hi and love all of your posts :)
I am 30years old athlete looking to get into the shape of my life for the first time in my life. I suffer from many doubts if I can achieve this at such an age.My body is screaming at me to take it easier and I am pushing it more. However I do find it hard to control my weight as I really want to be leaner and stronger.
Anyhow that's my story.

All posted above sounds like you are doing great. keep up the hard work!

Thanks to all for the support, I'm glad I posted the pics, I pretty much wanted to show that I'm doing pretty good in the arms/leg region... the thighs and belly are a whole other story but usually they are the areas where everyone has trouble shedding fat from, I'm trying really hard to find a place to swim because I KNOW that will help a lot, my only weekday off is Monday so at least I'll try going on Mondays....

By the way - your biceps are rockin'! And, I want calves like that ;-)

I use to have arms very defined and even when I was 180 pounds (yikes) I've always had muscular calves, Actually in the "good old days (teens) I use to be pretty cut, even had a six pack, I was in Tae-Kwon-Do for about 6 years (I'm actually a black belt) and that had me in great shape, then I moved back to the US for a year and BAM all those ben and jerry's double fudge cherry ice cream along with poor self really ruined me... :( in CR we didn't have so much crap food a decade ago so I stuffed myself when I lived in CA and NJ :s Smuckers PB&J also raised havoc.... :p

America strikes again lol.... Well at least you are on the right track now. And you know where you can be from where you have been.

Girl I know how you feel. I lived overseas for awhile and didn't have access to much of anything but beans, rice, chicken and tortillas. When I would visit the US I would have a list of places to hit and things to eat. I could easily gain 5lbs each trip. Of course, once I got back to 100 degree weather I would sweat the weight off! My sister and her family still live overseas and they do the same thing. This past trip in they stayed with me and you should have seen the junk in my house. My niece even sat at the table and ate icecream and cookies right in front of me. TURKEY.

You are doing great now - I'm really proud of you!

America strikes again lol.... Well at least you are on the right track now. And you know where you can be from where you have been.

I've sadly "been" there more than once, after I came back to CR (Father was a diplomat so we traveled a bit) I stayed fat (5'1 180 pounds :() for about 4-5 years I got out of a psychologically abusive relationship and felt so damn good I started walking and swimming, in a single month I lost about 30 pounds :o and eventually ended up in 119 pounds which had me looking really good! but then I started working graveyard shift 6 days a week 10pm - 7a.m. and that brought me back up.... I made good money so I always ate out, McDonalds was like 4 blocks away from work and I slept 80% of my time off.... so bam to chubbo again, now I'm at 163 and I'm gonna make it down again! you'll see, you'll all see!!!!!!!!! buahahaha oh no wait I got carried away :p

Alright, Giggles show me/us. Yeah, I do think that you will make it to your goals because you know where you've been, know what you did and where you are going. JCK

Damn it... I had to skip breakfast because I've slept like 8 hours out of the last 48 hours, so earlier I went to the cafeteria here at work and they only had crap, as usual a chocolate cake winked at me so I ran like hell back to my station, 3 minutes ago they placed a promo and have 2x1 in desserts, bf bought in so we both had a dessert... shame on me.... but it was very good :p

I did graveyard shifts for a few years. They can really kick your ass. There really is no way to get used to them. Its just not worth it.

Is BF boyfriend or best friend? If it boyfriend he owes you some w/o loving ;}. There are worse ways of working off chocolate cake. If you are referring to a female- she owes you some mall walking- shoe shopping time. Now you have to make sure you eat something healthy to offset the sugar high/crash. JCK

Boyfriend ^_^

He works in the same place and schedule as we... :o so..... I see him when I wake up.... we car pool to the office.... we sit like 3 cubicles from eachother.... take lunch and break together.... carpool to the gym.... go to the gym.... back home.... and sleep together... RELOL oh, did I metion we have the same days off? :o

Sounds annoying but it's kinda nice we're really close ^_^

Wow, that is a lot of togetherness. DH and I are close but I enjoy the time he is away at the office but we've been together for 19 years. Okay, back to the choc. cake. It was good but was it worth the calories? I've tried to ask myself that question before I indulge. There are times that the answer is yes. Like tonight, I'm getting ready to go out with the girls and I definitely plan on having a glass of wine. I've stuck to my meal plan, had a good w/o and I have a 4.0 so I am going to enjoy my night out. JCK

It's almost too much togetherness :p but this job pays a LOT more than his old one, I started 2 yrs ago and then he came like 7 months ago

Eating oatmeal for breakfast and snack, no sugar no additives... takes like hell but the cake was yummy, trade was worth it :jenscat

For lunch I'm having some brown rice and some garlic and cilantro marinated chicken ^_^ no veggies, didn't have enough time:( my dogs pups are killing me... gotta get up every 2 hours and feed them :(

Interesting... hadn't checked my weight in a couple of weeks (at least 2) and I ahd missed the gym due to my cold gone bad/laringitis... yet today I weight myself at the Dr's office at work and it seems I lost 5.5 pounds.... interesting :p :)

Yesterday my cold bit me in the ass at the gym, can't keep going.... Dr and trainer already warned me... :(
I'm gonna have to inflate the weird little toga ball I have at home....

Yoga ball was too small to be useful :s Still can't go to the gym, hope fully Sunday and Monday I can swim and workout...

(This is starting to feel like a monologue) :lmao:

Oh goodness, please forgive me/us. LOL!
I'm laughing because you're right. I'd think the same thing and I'm glad you spoke it. I just learned something here! I'd have kept my mouth shot and moped! LOLOL!

Nan, this is the time you have to take the time to recover. I know we all think if we stop going to the gym for a week, all will fall apart, but it wont. In fact you'll come back with renewed energy and stronger. Is like when we go on vacation, we come back to work full charged. I hope you get better soon, my friend! :bigkiss:

Lo siento!!! We are seriously slacking in this thread.
I understand what you're saying about the gym.
I have ALWAYS had a hard time getting to the gym. Missouri weather is the WORST. My schedule is always INSANE.
I came up with some ways to stay on track with or without the gym. Plus, it keeps my body guessing since its all so random.
I go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week but do a bunch of stuff at home, school and work.
I made some "rules" of habit. When I'm at work:
If I drop a patient off at the hospital, I do 10 pushups in the EMS lounge before I get back on the ambulance (I drop of several patients a day when I'm working).
I ALWAYS take the stairs when going to pick up a patient. When you consider that the bag I usually carry weighs about 70 pounds, it really gets the heart rate up. It's funny because on emergency calls, I always get to the patient faster than the EMS workers taking the elevator because its "faster",lol.

On the days I don't work (like when I'm in school):
I do pushups as soon as I wake up. I have a certain way that I do them, but usually equals a total of 50.
If I don't get to the gym, I run on my treadmill.
I mix this up,2. Once a week, I do a long, slower jog for about 40 minutes. The other days that I use the threadmill, I alternate with timed intensity stuff (kinda like HIIT).
I also do tabata stuff with dumbells. This is GREAT for the legs, arms, back....well, almost everything. Really helps with the heavy lifting I need to do at work (HEAVY patients..always live on the 3rd floor and REFUSE to walk. Its a rule).

It's easy to get some stuff done. Just think of some things that might work for YOU because we are all a little different.
BUT if you need a rest day, TAKE IT. If not, your body will punish you for it later.

What the Dr told me was that I can't get my heart rate too high, since I have a deviated septum I breathe mostly through my mouth and considering my throat is irritated if I do this I get into a coughing fit..... If I breath through my mouth I don't get enough oxigen and get week, also due to the A/C at work my nose is totally dry so (do to the cold) if I blow my nose it has blood.... breathing is such a freaking issue right now :(

Hi Nancy .

I had a deviated septum to makes it very hard to breath at times very hard when your eating to fast lol.

Mine got very bad coz you only breath through 1 side the skin at the end of your nasal passage inside gets hit with twice the air drying it out , than it cracks and bleeds , gets infected and is just not fun , mine became so bad i got the surgery cover by health care and had it straightened .

I have been following along with your thread for awhile but never had anything to say until now , so hi again.

Brad.

Hi ^_^

Well yes it's pretty annoying to have that, I've had surgery twice (once as a child once as a teen) they even removed some bone tissue to improve airflow (this is the reason why it hurst so much when I sneeze, which also makes me make a noise that sounds like you stepped on a chihuahua's foot... :p )
yet I still can't breath right... maybe some day I'll give it a third shot.... the gym has been better though I can now breath more through my mouth so I'm doing pretty good :)

another inch on each arm.... I can start so see my little green veins... kinda creepy but less fatty :p I'm also swimming 2 times a week.... YaY!!!

I had a yogurt and a medium carrot for breakfast(it's so early) and then the company bought us all grilled cheese and ham sandwhiches... damn it!

That's the worst! I feel your pain...I work for an epicurean magazine with 6 test kitchens and taste testings every day...I try to pretend like they don't exist :D

Today I run out of the sugar free fat free yogurts I had bought and will switch to plain (:() any ideas on making it taste better? splenda, fruit, etc. I'll eat it plain for now but any good ideas are welcome :)

I ate beats this week, YUM! thnx for the heads up on the beats and cassava Thandie

How about Stevia?

I'm looking for Yuca and Batata today. Big cravings...

I've read about you girls mentioning Stevia but never heard of it and looked for it at several stores with no luck, I just decided to look online in the only supermarket that has good imports and I found it, this is what I found:

STEVIA 80 ml
STEVIA BOX 50 g
STEVIA BOX, 100 units
STEVIA blister tablets 26 g
STEVIA blister liquid 30 ml

So which of these am I looking for, tablets, packets, liquid, etc...?

Get the packets. Liquids have a bitter after taste.

They are having a going away pot luck at my company tomorrow for a guy.
You should see the production. Its rediculous. Most of the women weigh more then me (260+)and you can tell why when you see the food.
I will probably eat extremely healthy and then dream about some sort of stupid food that night...:worried:

I buy the pure stevia powder from my local wedge co-op.(Bulk section) It's rather pricey but I only use a very very small amount. It really helps with cravings.

I buy these little jelly tubs in a pack of 12 i think and they have pretty much nothing in them no fat sugar carbs protein but taste good i have them if hungry or to liven up my boring stuff .

Brad.

How's adding vanilla extract to the plain yogurt?

You can add vanilla extract, but make sure it doesn't have sugar in it..

Wow, when I read ur post I thought "why would vanilla extract have sugar? it's vanilla extract...!" :p
Yet when I went to check in the supermarket they all have sugar... WTF why do they do that, I'm buying extract not sweetened extract... I got so mad... didn't buy it..... did get stevia, btw stevia makes me REALLY thirsty... strange

LOL..I know! if you want vanilla without sugar, you have to use the bean.

I have another question ;) oatmeal,. what kind? I automatically imagine the instant type is mega processed and some even sweetened... so what to use? I've been using whole oats which are high in bran (they's are "integral"/brown) or should I just use plain/classic quacker oats or something like that?

No, not instant. Since you live in CR I'm not sure what you can get. However, McAnn's steel cut is very good. My favorite is Coach's Oats, which I order online.

Here they are mostly local brands, the only imports are Quaker, I currently eat some from a brand called Bio-land which is Natural-organic, they are whole oats, kinda brownish and say integral..... they aren't processed in any way....

Hey Thandie, quick question, what do you think about beans? would having a cup of red or black beans for breakfast be a good idea?

Great, then use the Bio-land. That sounds perfect.

Yes, beans are great, I'd just make sure you don't go overboard with carbs there. Beans h
are a great source of protein, but not much of it, however it's higher in carbs. Not that I'm against carbs, actually they help you lose weight, by reving up your metabolism, but don't go nuts.
I hope this is right. I'm on my iPhone.
