Hi i've been trying to read everyones post on proper training and dieting.....so much to take in. I am 20 years old and 175 lbs with 32%bf. yucky......i have started to do 50 min. of cardio 5 times a week with some weight training. i eat lots of whole grain items and tuna etc. Anyways i had a question some of you have mentioned taking t-rex i guess thats a fat burner. Do you suggest this for a beginner and if not what should i do to enhance energy and the fat burning process.
thanks everyone!

Hey Rachel! Welcome to the boards & congrats on your focus on fitness!

Thermorexin is a great OTC fat burner that the AF Store sells. They also sell another non-stimulant fat burner called Levorex that people have had luck with. Depending on how comfortable you are with stimulants like coffee, you can try either or not. Mostly it is a supplement. It is your diet that will determine your progress.

To give you and us a place to start, I might suggest you post up your regular meal plan (what you eat, when & how much) for typical day, and also the specific training that you are doing. That will give us a context for where you are coming from now.

Also for your own education, you can also review the stickies at the top of the board. The Shadow's Project & Project Summary are great references for a program that our own Shadow has been putting together for several of the girls on this board. You can take a peak at any of the "Training & Food Log" threads that each of us is running to see some of the before & progress pix.

And then ask away w/ whatever questions you have! Great support & information here!

P.S.
THAT should be a sticky for everyone to read before posting... :verygood:

thank you so much....i'm going to look into t-rex to further along better results. As for my meal plan i eat about a cup of oatmeal or kashi go lean for breakfest with fat free milk or somtimes i drink a nouriche fat free yogurt and a whole wheat bagel with fat free cream cheese. Lunch is normally a whole can of tuna with lite mayo ina whole wheat wrap with 1/2 cup of fat free cottage cheese or a turkey sandwhich on whole wheat. Dinner is either a cup of soup like italian wediing soup or something to that effect or chicken or salmon with corn and a grenn veggie. I try not to eat after 6 p.m. everyday which i saw a lot of peoples diet contains a protein shake late in the evening or some smaller snack. Why is that? As you can see my "diet' is pretty lax so i know i can tighten up on that but it seems like people don't eat enough (probably b/c they eat smaller portions of things during the day).
OK, as for exercise i run for about 35 min. (i'm trying to do HIIT) and then do the stairstepper until i burn 300 cal. then i do some lite weightlifting whatever my boyfriend has me do. I know some of you are going to read this and be like "oh no..." sorry i realized how wrong i was going about this when i started reading like mrs. 24k post and daisys posts. So now i need help. thank you
rachel

Welcome!! You'll love it here!! I've never felt better since I found elite fitness. Listen to me, I sound like a spokesperson or something. Hey guys, if you ever do commercials I'll do it!! I can be the "before" picture :) what not to do....hahahahaha I'm kidding

Hello and welcome!! Even though you don't feel like you know very much, you've come to the best place to learn more from some very expericenced and motivating people.

I would definitely start with the Shadow's project thread because it give some of the ratios of carbs/fats/protein that work well for women. IMHO if you could start cutting out some of the starchy carbs and adding a little more protein, that would be a great start. If you look at many of our logs, we eat much more frequently, but in smaller portions. The extra protein feeds the muscle as well as making a person "feel" more satisfied throughout the day - less tummy grumbling :) Shadow's thread also only has 3 days of cardio per week - weightlifting is what builds more muscle, and a body with more muscle burns more calories!

ok so now i'm going to follow a weight routine and i ordered t-rex which should be here by tuesday. i'm so excited thank you all and i will be posting routinely with updates and some pics.

Also, so you have a solid idea of what exactly you are eating, several of us put our daily food plans into food counts programs like www.fitday.com. (Free account.) It takes a litle bit of time to set up your food definitions / customizations, but once you have that you can load the meals in pretty quickly. Then you can see how much fat / carb / protein you are getting each day, as well as total cals.

Welcome!!! K! for you. The only advice I have is to be patient. The results you want will come if you focus on having a good diet and exercise program.
