My mercedes dealer charges 120 for an oil change. Also, when they're changing your oil they do a complete inspection of the car.

You expect them to do it for free?

If I did use a dealership for basic maintenance I'd expect them to do only what I'd asked them to do.

do you want the handy dandy 23 point inspection as well or do you just want your oil and filter changed? If the former, sure pay for it. If the latter, you should ask and pay for only an oil and filter service. If they won't give you a price just for the oil and filter, that would of course be typical car dealership bs and a good reason to go elsewhere.

lol@you cheap douchebags

I have never put anything less than 92 octane in my ancient Lexus.

92 is meaningless to most cars. . .the only thing that changes the equation is compression ratio. . .the higher the octane the higher the point of spontaneous combustion when placed under pressure. . .higher compression ratio and low octane fuel equals detonation. . .and knocking, etc.

and for the record, no one makes engines with a better horsepower to fuel mileage ratio than gm. . .not even close. . .and they do it with cheap pump gas.

that don't charge you for looking the car over. It's just something that they do.

If you're going to bitch about paying for an oil change don't buy a high end luxury car. Stick with a chevy cobalt and a $10 oil change at jiffy lube.

I will never have so much money that I would not mind paying someone an extra $150 for doing nothing. Now that's me. I don't care what you or anyone else chooses to do with their money.

you misunderstood me. I meant do you expect them to change the oil for free. They're in business to make a profit.

Not sure how we got off on this tangent. Bottomline is you can't change your own oil for $40 on a mercedes.

Are you one of those people that spent 50,000 on a vette and then bitches about $3 gas?

I cant get away with under 60 bucks on the bimmer doin the oil by myself...

I also inspect my own car while Im under there

I see both points....bmw and mercedes are judiciously expensive to take your car to...

a regular competent garage can always do it for less

Nope. Pay to play. But the Vette get's really good mpg anyway.

yeah, exactly. If you wanna buy a 60,000+ luxury car don't cry about the cost of service.

I know the vette gets good mileage (pending you drive it normal). I was just being silly. I always laugh at people when they cry about the price of gas/diesel and they're driving a 50-70000 truck/suv.

Paying a dealer for the huge markup for a basic service is different (for me) though. It's not really about the money I suppose. Just the principle of the thing.

I plan to bitch about it every day.
