Ahhh, if it were not for my husband and his knowledge of weight training and form, I would look like an idiot. Sooooo true, find someone who really knows what they are doing. It's amazing that once you learn proper form and speed (for lack of better description), how many people in the gym just are not getting what they really should be getting out of their workouts.. using proper weight is important too. Good luck! Sometimes just asking around, friends, realtives, etc. you find someone. I agree with mbrooke5, seek out a coach, they would DEFINATELY know someone, if they can't themselves assit you personally. GOOD LUCK!
