Help with my mom trying to lose weight

musclemom said:
That's why I'm saying body slimmer and stop stressing. When you're postmenopausal the changes are harder to come and take about twice the time/work. I just think she's going to end up getting frustrated and upset. If what she's worrying about is basically some ripples then a good undergarment can fix all that. If she really wants to pursue a lifestyle change, that's a whole different story, let's see the lady post up!!!

But I get the feeling his mother is more or less saying "I'm actually happy with how I look, I just found the EXACT dress I want and it almost fits but it's a pinch snug and I need to drop 5 for it to fit perfectly." At 60, with only six weeks, and considering her concern area is probably midsection (he specifically mentions loose skin, which weight loss will only emphasize, and back fat, which is a major postmenopausal weight gain area) the best bet is Lycra.

^^ what she said. Loose skin is SO annoying... Good lord even when you don't gain/lose weight.

Take it as I'm saying it, Immebz, the best thing she could do, instead of stressing herself out further by trying to crash diet while getting ready for a wedding, is to find a good strapless body shaper. Seriously. She might have to spend about $50 but Lyrcra can be a woman's best friend when worn UNDER clothes.

Seriously, she's small enough already, and if she's not interested in following through with a new style of exercise regime then it's just going to be something that aggravates and upsets her. Starving herself (which is what most women default to) is lousy for her bones -- and temper -- and once you get past a certain age losing 5 or 10 pounds ain't as easy as it used to be (BELIEVE me on this one) and very frustrating to boot.

Tell her to look into something like the Miraclesuit. She really looks like she has a nice figure already, and the dress doesn't look tight so a pinch more support is just the ticket to give her a shot of confidence.

BTW, I would never think she's 60, she's a pretty lady.

^^^Yeap!!!^^^

Cool thanks again for the replies.

It is mainly loose skin, and at 60 idk if diet change will help that much in 6 weeks. So the best bet would for her to get something that pulls the skin apart so it doesnt look all bunched up in her back? Oh and musclemom, your right on. That dress in the pics is actually not the one shes getting, hers is a little tighter. She got it for 400 and its beautiful, so shes not going to change it, just wants to look perfect in it :) So Lycra is kind of confusing...what would i get her again?

She wants something along the lines of these. Added bonus, back support. Seriously, pull the web sites up and let mom take a look. She might end up going to a store herself and talking to fitter but proper undergarments make a HUGE difference in the fit of a dress.

If you're talking about upper back you're going to be in trouble anyway, but you need to remember, there is NO such thing as spot reduction. You cannot do a thing to lose in one location without losing anywhere else.

As for slimming her all over, how do you think the starlets appear on the red carpet days or weeks after giving birth and they look hot? Proper foundation garments!

Now if she STILL doesn't fit into the dress properly after getting a proper foundation garment, the next step is to go talk to a GOOD tailor. There are a lot of tailoring tricks that can ease the fit of a garment that will not change the way it looks. But make sure it's a GOOD tailor, a professional, not someone's mom who sews in her free time.

If the tailor says there's nothing that can be done then you still have time to put her on Omega's diet but get her to try the dress on with a body slimmer first.
