Does anyone out there know of any knew prescription drugs to help with sleep, I've tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, Xanax, Lorezepam, Ristoril, and Sonata. All these drugs I've tried work for about two days and then stop.

Natural, what are your suggestions (I'm a little confused by what you mean by natural as all the things I listed are "natural").

Others have already heard me bitch and moan about Ambien 12.5mg....seem to only work for 2 freaking days!! and its not cheap!! 75.00 for 30 freakin pills!! Some have mentioned melitoian (sp?) Haven't tried that yet but I THINK that is something that you take everyday and it helps over time

I think she means like melatonin, perhaps you could try some herbal teas before bed, etc.

Do you exercise at all? I found when I was in the same boat...if I did 8 hours of cardio a day...I'd fall asleep before I made to my bed. Just a thought.

I used to exercise frequently, not so much anymore, I find it didn't affect my sleeping habits positively. I've tried melatonin, didn't work. I'm so desperate right now, I am thinking of asking my doctor to prescribe me Haldol, which unfornately, is a drug frequently prescribed to tranquilize schizophrenics.

the list you gave are all chemicals! Nothing natural in there.

yes like HH said, try something natural like Herbal teas, exercise, maybe some valerian. (herbs)!
You've taken so many chemicals you're body is messed up. Prob why you can't sleep.
Meditate, exercise and relax b4 bed. It works!

Okay, before you start ADDING things, espeically when it comes to insomnia, you need to DELETE everything that could possible interfere with sleep.

Make sure you've cut all caffeine out except for maybe a cup of coffee first thing when you get up (caffeine is not just in coffee, but tea, cocoa, chocolate, Mountain Dew, and "energy drinks" e.g., red bull, also some pain pills, like Excedrin, contain caffeine). Start reading labels.

Are you on any prescription or over the counter medication or even dietary supplements? Anything that isn't FOOD or DRINK that goes into your body can potentially affect you

Do you live in a city that fluoridates its water? Call the water company and find out (seriously). If so, drink and cook with bottled water exclusively. Some people are sensitive to fluoride and one of the ways it can manifest is sleep disturbance. If you're worried about your teeth I assure you, the way fluoride works is through topical application (in other words, what you get brushing your teeth is the only stuff that affects your teeth). You do not need it, it is NOT a necessary element.

Is your bedroom comfortable? Is the temperature good, the room quiet and well ventilated, is your bed comfortable? Is it QUIET and dark? Do you have a lot of street noise? Noisy neighbors?

You're a cop, are you constantly getting your shift fiddled with? If so, I have NO idea what you can do about that, but that will screw up your ability to sleep. Do some research on the internet about sleep cycles/circadian rhythms/shift workers.

The thing to remember with exercise is that you need to do it early enough in the evening so that it isn't overstimulating. It's better if it's at least 4 or more hours before bedtime.

Finally, I swear by this man's CD's ... you need either a surround sound system in your bedroom, or get a portable CD player with comfortable headphones and play this CD:

http://www.amazon.com/Delta-Sleep-S...B000654YF6/ref=pd_sim_m_5/104-2113356-3990322

(it has to be surround sound or in headphones to work properly)

There are herbal supplements, but the first thing you do is really look at your life in terms of what can be eliminated/improved first.

Have you tried valerian root (sp) 2caps of that and Im down for the count...its cheap too..

hummm, hadn't heard of that. What exactly is it and where do you get it at?

i second the melatonin and valerian, maybe some zinc or zma as well.

if that doesn't do it, pop a benadryl or 2, but don't do that every night....it can lead to depression.

I am sooo out of the loop that I wouldn't even know where to get pot if I wanted to. I will have to try said root next time to help me fall asleep...any volunteers?

lol
I kid :)

Valerian root is a legal herb, you can get it in most decent health food stores. It's a natural sedative -- for some. There is a very small percentage of the population that don't respond to it and who actually find it stimulating. For people like that there is an herbal blend out that's called Happy Camper. Great stuff, it's just about the most effective totally natural traquilizer out there.

You got to start ordering your stuff off the internet, cheaper, too. A lot of the places have really low costs for shipping or free if you go over a certain $$$ amount.

please explain more about that

Melatonin has been referred to as a "dirty substance" and can potentially cause undesireable side effects. I heard recently from someone else who suffers from severe insomnia that UNISOM or it;s generic equivalent (I forget the actual drug name, I had it written down somewhere) works wonders when nothing else did. It's OTC, and you can get the generic at Walmart I believe.

I sympathize with anyone who cannot get quality sleep. Ive never had that problem and I cant imagine it's a good feeling.

I'm not so sure about any pill bro. The Chronic works wonders though. Also he's a police officer so I doubt smoking would be in his best interest.

Valerian herbal products are made from the roots or stems of the valerian plant (valeriana officinalis). Information on the common uses, benefits, and side effects of valerian root, a dietary supplement. Dried roots are often prepared as teas, or put into capsules or tablets. Valerian root is used as a sleep aid to help insomnia and other sleeping problems.

you can get at walmart, gnc , wallgreens with the vitimans

Yea. I don't think he's allowed to do that. But who really is "allowed" to smoke da chronic?

I keep getting him to light one up with me but he's so damn paranoid
....sends my ass to the garage to smoke up. He starts whinning about drugs screens and some other paranoid gonna-loss-my-cop-job talk.
Blah blah blah.

He won't even let me bring crack into the house. I don't see what's the big deal. I'm not selling it or anything, DANG!

fuck dude whenever i dont get enaugh sleep and by that i mean i can go a couple with barely any, needless to say it knocks me out of being me for the whole entire wweek and i just resort to being a huge piece of shit

WalMart sells it. Also K, do not look for "Valerian" when in the pharmacy, look for any herbal remedy to help you sleep and most likely Valerian will be an ingredient.
