OK ready. This is a long story, but i will try to make it as short as possible. I recently (1 month) started working out again, after a long hiatus (6 months). In May I moved (temporarily) to be closer to the home office, I came back last month. When I left I weighed between 118-125, and now I am 145, and at 5' 6", and all fat that is SERIOUS!!!! I traveled TONSover those months, and ate out ALL the time, and eventually just gave up, and gave in to the food...YUCK! I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism last January, and I am sure that contributed, but my eating and lack of exercise was the biggie. I did not step foot in the gym for 6 months, when I was used to going 4-6 days a week. What has happened to my body this fast is unexplainable!! I have not taken my bf yet, almost scared. If I had to guess it very high 20's, poss. 30's!! I turned 30 this year, and I now believe the hype. It takes 5x the effort, than it used to...longer, harder. Here's the biggie, I was in an accident and my mouth is wired...broken jaw!!!! I can only drink protein drinks. I ordered the Jack Lalane Juicer, and will be juicing veggies, and fruit. Obviously this could seriously effect my progress!! What should I do?? I AM REALLY FREAKIN' OUT!! I had hoped to get back down to at least 130-135 by Christmas, so I wouldn't have fat-ass pictures, but I'm not so sure it's possible now. I am almost ashamed to write this because I'm not dying, my daughters healthy, I have a great job, wonderful family...etc, but this is keeping me in my house. I am embarrassed to go to my old gym, can't fit into my clothes, and refuse to buy bigger. It is so sad, this is even taking control of the fun weeends with my daughter. What do you suggest I do for the food, and energy. I bought Yohinburn ES, should get it soon, and if it even works a little I will buy TONS. Clen?? I am joining another gym, and will try to do my old routine, which is

Cardio 4-5 days a week 20-30 min HIIT or a 1 hour class (cycling LOVE IT)

Mon - Back/BI
Tuesday - Chest/Tri
Wed - Legs
Thurs - Shoulders
start over
I used to get abs by dieting...never have had a tummy ti' now!! Part of that is due to having lipo on trouble spots legs and hips. I warn everyone against that, because you never know what the future holds and if yuo gain weight it will go to other places and you look worse than when you started out! Ok I think that's it, if I left anything out let me know. My main question is how can I lose weight, gain muscle, and not have solid food? :worried:

OW. First of all, sorry about your accident. I had some gum surgery 2 yrs ago & had stitches in my gums for 2 months. Couldn't eat solid food either. So I did a lot of protein mixes & juicing. Actually, what a great time to do a liquid diet. The juicing is great in the sense that you are putting in a huge amount of really great stuff that is often used for cleansing diets. The down side is that you don't get a lot of carbs or a lot of calories from the juiced stuff, so you might notice you get more tired easily. But over all, a period of juicing is not a bad thing - particularly since you said you totall changed your eating habits & probably have a lot of junk that hasn't been flushed out of your system. The juicing is sooo good for that sort of clean out.

As far as getting protein and calories that you would be missing from just juicing, I had 2 different sorts of protein mixes - I think one I used was Isopure - high protein, very low carb & fat. And the other was an EAS mix I think - higher carb, cal & fat. The purpose to get more fuel on the days that I trained harder or did more cardio, and lower on the days I didnt' need the fuel so much. Also you can mix natural peanut butter into the protein mix as an additional source of protein, cal & good fat. Between the juicing & the protein mixes, along w/ stuff you mix in, including some flax seed oil or olive oil at different meals, you can do pretty good. You'll probably get really sick of eating the same stuff & all liquid, but if you must, it can be done.

Lipo-wise, I don't think there's any reason to be scared of it - it is basically a physical result that if you reduce the number of fat cells in one particularly, usually the areas where you tend to hold fat, if your diet changes to providing more than your body can consume, it is going to be deposited as fat somewhere. That somewhere is probably going to be in places where you arent' used to it, so yes, it is going to be annoying. That's why it is critical that people don't view lipo as a "diet solution". If you eat crap that your body can't use up as fuel, its is still going to be stuck somewhere on your body. Therefore, back to the question of diet. Only feed your body what it needs, when it needs it. You avoid any fear of getting fat because you can't eat solid food & you avoid getting the excess deposited in places where it never used to be put.

Just as on any diet, you can't really lose weight & gain muscle at the same time. Therefore, especially on what I am going to anticipate to be a lower cal / restricted diet because of the liquid thing, you won't be able to gain muscle but you can lose fat & maintain the muscle you have. This all assumes you dont' put ice cream, etc. in your protein mixes ... LOL!.

Sorry to hear about your accident....broken jaw...that's horrible... Can you maybe check with your dr. or a nutritionist who can maybe suggest some "meals" for you?

However, what you said about lipo and fat migrating to other places is a myth & needs to be dispelled. That absolutely does NOT happen. During lipo fat cells are removed from certain areas & the area which had lipo has fewer fat cells than areas not lipo'd. Thus, if you gain weight the non-lipo'd area appears larger as there are more fat cells in that area. The fat doesn't move or migrate to non-lipo'd areas......

Sassy and Jenscats5 - Thanks so much for the tips!

I have Isopure, and I will get the EAS shake this week. You are right about needing to flush some things out...how about 25 lbs! LOL What are the best veggies or fruits to help with that...any special recipes?

As for the lipo, I can personally testify that the fat has been redistributed. When I decided to get this procedure done, it was because I was working so hard on something that was VERY stubborn! It was only my thighs and hips, and it made a huge difference in less than a month. After the swelling went down, I lost around 8 inches, and was back training in 2 weeks. Now my thighs are not the problem (as much), it's my stomach, butt (always was NOW worse), and arms??!! I NEVER had trouble with my arms or abs before, even when I gained 70+ pounds with my daughter (46" waist) these body parts went back to normal very fast...and no stretch marks...thank you Jesus!

Jens - thanks for reminding me about the nitritionist...hadn't even thought about that.

Also, would an AS (anavar?) help me preserve the muscle, while I am wired up?? These should come off in about 7 weeks.

Sorry I have so many questions, I just want to make sure I am doing everything possible.

I've had lipo too and when gaining weight the fat in the areas not lipo'd will look bigger as there are simply more fat cells in those areas.....the fat doesn't migrate....plus after having plastic surgery you have a tendency to be more critical of youself & see your body in a light that you didn't see it in before....

I've gained weight since my lipo & my waist looks bigger cuz I didn't have that area done........

As for the nutritionist I remember that one helped out my mom a lot when she was in the hospital & had trouble eating -- she made some very high protein tasty shakes & had all kinds of ideas for her to get nutrition.....hopefully one will have some ideas for you!

First, I wouldn't blame being 30 to your decline. I got into the best shape of my lkife after my 30th BDay. :)

HIIT shouldn't be done everyday. At most, HIIT should be done 3 times a week, on non-consecutive days. HIIT should last for a maximum of 30 min (this includes a 5 min warm up and a 5 min cool down). If you can do more than this, then you aren't doing it hard enough. If you aren't dying after each interval, you aren't doing it hard enough. If you can maintain the interval for more than 1 min, you aren't doing it hard enough.

I would do 2 days of HIIT, 2 days of cycling. Start there with the cardio. Add in more days WHEN YOU PLATEAU. Not before.

I would also try to space out your lifting more often. This will allow you to give it your ALL each workout, including cardio. There should ALWAYS be a rest day every week. ALWAYS. Your body gets results when there is proper recovery. No recovery, no results.

When do you do cardio? Weights? (am or pm?)

For example....

Mon - AM cardio, Abs
Tues - Ch / Tri, HIIT
Wed - Legs
Thurs - AM Cardio, Abs
Fri - Ba / Bi, HIIT
Sat - Shoulders, Abs
Sun - REST

Alter this to fit your schedule. Maybe take the day off in the middle of the week instead of Sun.

Thanks Daisy I'm off to the gym..shoulder and ab day!! Thanks for the quick reply. i will let everyone know how its going...but you won't see any pics for a while...but i do plan on posting a before..yuck and after...yea

Am I dumb? What is HIIT???

HIIT = High Intensity Interval Training

Basically instead of doing steady state cardio, like the elliptical at a steady pace for 30 mins, you do HIIT which is for example: using a treadmill, sprint for 1 minute, then jog for 2 mins, over & over for about 20 mins. Also do a 5 min warmup & 5 min cooldown..... Or you can jog for 1 minute, walk for 1 minute or 2, etc....
