HELP: I cannot work out my spinal erectors to treat my injury related problems...

So I've been working out for 3 months, and I realized that I was neglecting my lower back. I broke it 4 years ago... crush fractured two lumbar vertebrae, and the top of me got shifted forward a half inch or so. So there is extra strain on the erectors from the changed geometry, and they fatigue easily. So I started working it out doing hyperextensions, both on the machine and by leaning over on that thing you do hyperextensions on. I'd usually do 4 sets of 25 or so hyperextensions. It felt right. I could recover okay in 3-4 days, which seemed about right for these slow recovering muscles.

Well this worked okay while I was in school. It hurt for a few days, since they're slow to recover, but not too bad. They seemed to be getting stronger.

Then I started the job where I stand around all day, and now if I work out my spinal erectors at all, my back hurts so bad after a couple hours on the job, that I can't stand up. I have to sit down, or bend over. I have to take tylenol and aspirin, and I'm thinking about ultram from some legit internet place. Since I can't afford to see my doctor, and its strictly a muscle pain thing. There is no joint/spinal pain. Believe me, I know that pain. This is just the spinal erectors.

Its a fucking problem for me. What am I to do? Its as though its not possible for me to build up my erectors to the point that I can handle standing on this job... while I have this job.

And its just the standing that does it. When I work part time unloading trucks, lifting hundreds of 20 kilo boxes, it doesn't bother me like this. I try moving around... but it does not help.

The only thing I can think of is: quit the job, or work out my lower lats to try to give the erectors some help. Is that a valid idea? I started doing alot of medium grip pulldowns.

Building lats is always a good idea but they don't do the same thing as erectors. Get on a reverse hyper machine and hit your abs extremely hard. May try and do some overhead squats as well. These things should help strengthen your core, which should help on the job and in the gym.

I agree. Work on your abs..standing pull down abs and full range as you can. Stretch a lot and try to do some reverse hypers. Go slow but constantly slightly push yourself.

This may help you out if you deiced to keep the job. Have you told your empolyer about your pain and previous injury? If not I would do so imeidatly! Most empolyers will either give you a chair to sit in on a rubber mat to stand on. The rubber mats are great you feel like you are standing on top of a thick spounge. The thicker the better. We use them all the time at work and no more back pain. Ours a half an inch thick and they seem to do fine. You can find them in a resturant and bar supply store. Hope that helps some. Oh and with a back injury like yours is this something that you should be doing for a job?

Oh yea one last thing listen to Bench and B fold they are right.
Damn three B's in a row I am off to vegas
