Hannibal will pobably not post his own numbers without provocation, so here's the result:

1st attempt 405...GOT IT

2nd attempt 425...GOT IT

3rd attempt 450... MISSED

Good job! I really wish I could've been there, or that the phone was working so I could've listened. Sounds like you all had a great time, and worked hard.

Those are awesome numbers for a first meet.

Yeah, good job, big man!

He told me today that he took 2nd in his class!

I know I would've loved to have been there to support ya!

Congrats Hannibal. Hitting over 400 in your first meet was a success in itself. You have something to build on now and motivation for your December meet. Experience is one thing that can never be overdone. The race is on to see who can get to 500 next. :D

I think I hit 275 in my first meet weighing around 225. Stick-boy in the mother-fuckin' house... :bawling:

So, Hannibal....details? Was anything better or worse than you expected?

Ok...first let me thank AnimalMass, dg21, and VDOP for handing off and spotting. They helped myself and the Okies out ALOT. I also want to thank benchmonster and his family for letting me stay the weekend with them.

1st Attempt 405. Went up suprisingly easily considering I was feeling really weak. Almost forgot to wait for the Rack Command..but other than that, no problem.

2nd Attempt 425. Made a mistake. Didn't stay tight, when the shirt stopped helpin it stalled. Then I VERY SLOWLY locked it out...felt like about 30 seconds.

3rd Attempt 450. Put on my tighter shirt. Took the weight out of the rack, and tried to fight the weight down. My right arm started to move towards my feet, and I couldn't stop it. Landed on my stomach and the spotters took it...thanks again.

As far as the experience, it was a good one. The biggest mistake I made for the day was getting too "psyched" too early. I was ready to lift at about 2pm...unfortunately my first attempt didnt happen until 4pm and by then I was drained. I also need to do something to make sure that allergies are NEVER an issue again on meet day. I felt weak pretty much all weekend. When I was in the warmup area 275 felt heavy(not a good sign). Was REALLY nervous about making my opener.

Some other things that I learned. Once you get under the bar you CANNOT hear shit. I swear in three attempts I never heard a press command. The only other thing that I had problems with was "timing". Keeping track of how many lifters out I was. Knowing when to get my belt on and wraps....and so on.

Most importantly, thanks to my crew. You guys were there in spirit. We get stronger as a team.

great job

thats what i'm afraid of, is not hearing or forgetting to listen for the commands.

Great job Hannibal!

It was cool as hell finally meeting you, and even cooler to help with your handoffs at your first meet!

I dont think 30 seconds was even close!--I remember asking dg21 twice if we were ready to pull it up! Didnt want to let you get hurt with your arm drifting, but didnt want to be responsible for redlighting you on a lift!

Just wanted to tell you also you are one intimidating MOFO when you get your psyche going before a lift. You should make that face at halloween and walk around scaring little kids!

Look forward to making it up your way to train!

Later..

Thanks man...and thanks for the help. Made life alot easier that we had 3 spotters with us. And thanks for not taking the weight. I should have blown it away. I will never make an "excuse" for my lifting...but my allergies had me feeling very weak. The funny thing about that second attempt is that at NO point did I even consider that it I wasnt going to make it. It was moving sooooooo slowly..but it never stopped moving. SLOW AND STEADY...and then some.

ME??! Intimidating??! You lie....:lmao:

We definitely need to plan training session for all of us that were there Saturday. I think we could fit 8 in my garage...just have to lift in shifts.
