I see. Okay what about this totally hypothetical situation? A man spends 500 dollars on a gift. Never mind that it's super thoughtful. He then decides to take me to applebees bc we drive past it and we both think it's hilarious? Do I turn the date down forgetting the gift and pretend I have no sense of humor or do I add the cost of the gift to get my total for how much he thinks I'm worth?

Depends where you go.

I'd pick a nice place in the city, pre-dinner drinks, bottle of wine with dinner, after dinner drinks. Appetizer and entrée I'm thinking $40 per person plus alcohol maybe $200 for a nice dinner date. Then go out afterward so that can be another $100 for drinks and cover charge for a good fun night out.

If you drive a RR probably double that nicer bottle of wine with dinner, VIP lounge after dinner etc.
