Had a great day last sunday

keep your body straight when loading... twisting is only going to lead to getting yourself hurt.

Good effort btw.

:)

I know I know I know ;) , Actually I don't know why I did that except my calf was cramping  ,. I still need a lot of work but that was one of my long term goals to get, actually it was my goal for Bluegrass 04

Thanks everyone

Those loads look good. Congrats on the PR.

If you care, I thought I may offer some advice. One thing you will get better at as you do more loading is figuring out how to put the minimal amount of effort into the load required to get it onto the platform. That means setting up so that the high point of your load occurs right at the edge of the platform. Notice how on your first stone you killed it, which I assume what your intention. However, your high point occurred a ways back from the platform.

Your second load with the heavier stone is probably closer to where you want to be standing (leaving out the twisting around part ...lol).

Again, this is not an issue with those stones on those barrels for singles; however, when loading a series of stones onto a slightly higher platform it will become essential for you to maximize your efficiency.

RBrown-man thanks for the advice, I realized what you said when I looked at the vids before I was about 4-8" too far out with the 275. I think I might start doing some front squat to get use to exploding out of the hole with a weight in front

You're welcome. Obviously the stronger you get the better. I guess what I am saying in part is that you are plenty strong to load those stones and heavier ones already. I just requires getting used to the stones so that they feel almost as comfortable to you as a barbell.

One thing you may also want to try out in your training is perhaps not dropping all the way down on lighter stones. Many good stone loaders like Clint do drop all the way down like that; however, other stone loaders like me or Dave Ostlund tend to just quarter squat down and then load from there---really just depends on what you are comfortable doing. You can see in the link below is me doing a 393 and is a good example of the quarter squat technique; this is also a good example of what I am talking about when I say maximize your efficiency--notice how the stone barely clears the edge and then it goes on.

hmmm.... I see your point, maybe on the lighter ones I will not frop down and expend so much energy, but to be honest most of the time I need to sit down and reposition my arms, my arms are proportionate to my body but at 5'7" your arms are only so long. Though I see your point the 275 I tryed to get a high as possible instead of just making the barrel.

The 200 and the 235 I have to learn how to shoulder since I will never make the platform in Boston otherwise ;)

me too bc the first one is 220 to a 64"platform i think..i've only shouldered and walked with the 190. i'm gonna give the 230 a shot soon.
