Guys who have had gyno surgery done by a General Surgeon?

Well I went to go visit the surgeon yesterday, I actually thought I was going to a Plastic surgeon but ended up being a General Surgeon. Anyways we talked and he said that there might be a little bit of scarring. He explained that his job is just to take the gyno out. He said that he performs about 2 gyno surgeries on men per month. I asked him how long it would take for me to heal and he said I could perform exercises within a week and said the surgery itself takes about 30 min.

I don't know I just didn't have a good feeling after talking to him. I'm afraid he's just going to perform a hack job. The surgery would only cost me $300. I know if I went with a plastic surgeon it would be alot more. I'll have to call my insurance to see if there is even a plastic surgeon in the network.

So what has been your bro's experiences with General Surgeons?

well have to say comsmetic surgeon is the way to good.. and most will agree..
i did the Genral myself.. i have small scars under my nipples but i am happy
with it as i had slight gyno from puberty... but i was glad to have th knot gone..
before if i wore a tight shirt my nips would stick out a little and now they dont...
but if you go to a cosmetic surgeon you will not have a scar at at all...
...I would of gone that route but dident have the money..

Ya right now I really don't have the money. It's either wait and get it done when I have the money or get it done now.

I was three weeks off after the surgery....and the doc wanted one more week off..the worst thing could be happen after the surgery (if everything went well) is to get an infection or lose some suture points....so I would suggest go to the cosmetic surgeon, they make 3 or 4 gyno surgery a week....

How much would the surgery run at a plastic surgeon?

Plenty of horror stores on the msg boards at gynecomastia.org dealing with general surgeons. Thing is, they"ll get the tissue out just fine, but they really have no idea how to "sculpt" your chest into beatiful looking pecs, like a good plastic surgeon would do.

But for $300, and chances are your insurance won't cover a plastic surgeon (you're lucky that they're covering it even w/ general), you might wanna see if you can contact other ppl who have had the surgeon see how they did with it ya know?

But the safest bet is definitely just waiting and gathering the cash for a board certified plastic surgeon.

I would honestly go with a plastic surgeon. Sometimes those GP's scare the shit out of me. I used a plastic surgeon and you can't even tell. But up in Canada it didn't cost me a cent!

I had mine cut out back in 92 by a general surgeon...mine cost a total of $2800.00 As far as scarring...not a whole lot too worry about with the general surgeon because the way they do it is....they cut around the areola and lift the flap of skin up and start digging....my scar is in a half circle around the lower part of the areola...it is barely visible....this is not too major of a surgery and not a whole lot of cutting to do...so, if money is a factor...I say definately go for it...no way the scarring will be too bad. I had to lay off of doing my chest work out for about 2.5 weeks. Good luck.
