Gracie vs. Hughs predictions......

I think Hugh's will defeat Gracie. Hughs might be too strong for him, although Gracie has beaten people a lot stronger than Hughs in the past. Let me know your predictions.

Is it tonight? I think Gracie has always been overrated. Who in the hell did he beat but a bunch of streetfighters? Were any of them professional fighters? and if so, were they ranked near the top? I don't think so.

No, it's like the 25th or next month or something. Hugh is known for his wrestling, and Gracie beat Dan Severn the 270lbs olympic gold medalist wrestler. Gracie also beat Shamrock in his prime.

Severn wasn't the gold medalist, but I forgot about that one. That is an impressive victory.

I know he won a medal, maybe it was silver?????

He didn't qualify. I did see the gold medalist olympic guy that weighed 195, can't remember his name? He fought this huge 6'3" dude that weighed 265 and literally bodyslammed him several times. It was beautiful to watch.

Impressive indeed but no Olympic gold medal. I wonder why he was in a tough man kickboxing contest? He's all ground.

I side with the guy who's younger and stronger. Sure, Gracie can fight, but I'm scared that he's like other fighters who are past their prime.

Goin with Hughs. As long as Matt stays cautious, he won't get submitted. He has been armbarred before, but he has never made the same mistake twice. I'm sure he's on top of his game and training like HELL. Although, I did like Gracie's comment when he said "I'm going to choke him out, help him up, and send him home." ;)

Hughes easily! MMA has evolved alot since the days of Gracie's dominance.

Hughes isn't a stranger to submissions as he arm barred George St. Pierre.

Hughes for sure. BJJ is much more widespread than it was during Royce's spree of victories, fighters know how to defend nowadays. Even if you were to discount Matt's BJJ skills, he is a no-joke wrestler with an uncanny ability to avoid take downs, and pop up from them in a matter of seconds if he should be taken down. KO or referee stopage (g&p) early in round 1. Although I suppose theres an outside chance that Matt will take this fight lightly, like with BJ, and get submitted, but I like to think he's learned his lesson.

I agree, and if they fought today, BJ Penn would get his ass kicked.

Hughs will probably win but not easily! Don't forget who we are talking about here!

I have a feeling it will come down to a decision, but I'm still predicting Hugh's to win.

Gracie essentially convinced everyone they need to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by dominating larger guys. So, everyone followed suit. Things aren't what they were. Fighters are much more well-rounded nowadays and that's part of why the sport is exploding. I dunno, that's my opinion and I hope Hughes wins.

Gracie seems like a total asshole to me - he liked to keep wrenching the armbars LONG after dude tapped out. Fucker would break guyss arms completely unnecessarily.

i think Royce gracie will win

I think there's a 60% chance it'll go to decision. The other 40 is referee stoppage due to a cut from an elbow from side control (Hughes winning).

If this was 10 years ago, before GJJ was popular, Gracie would have a better shot

hughs seems to have perfected the rear choke.

and he's quick as fuck on the ground.

hughs will choke gracie out.

agreed - it seems like he's been a bit too sadistic at times.

he likes to break joints.

I dunno....

I gotta go with Gracie.....age or not.

I cant imagine Hughs out poundng him on the ground.

My friend says this Hughes guy is very, very strong and extremely talented. I'm going with Hughes.

No this is my short friend. He has small man's disease. But that guy got more women than I ever saw back in the day. He looks like Mark Harman.

Its a new era.... it would be like putting sthe super bowl champs of 1995 against the super bowl champs of 2005.... they would get pounded... 10 years is s long time to age in this sport... All respect to Gracie...but Hughes for the win...

BTW...it would be more interesting to see Graci fight Shamrock again....like 2 old guys in wheelchairs going at it............. LOL... Just kidding Wodin.....
