got an estimate on my car today from the accident

the accident when that kid rearended me a week and a half ago. so far the estimate is up to $2400. that's what the shop is submitting to the insurance company and informing them it may go up if there's frame damage. they already suspect there is but they won't know until they tear the car apart and use the lazer straightening thing.

fuckin sucks. car is an 03, i've had it 4 months, it only has 27K miles on it, and it got hit.

damage was worse than i thought. at first i thought it was just the bumper and all the mounts. xmas day i saw that my drivers side quarter panel has a bulge, and the shop found a slight bulge in the passenger's side panel.

bumper is sitting on my tail pipe and they said a little bit of the bumper has melted onto the pipe already. great.

oh well, not my money fixing it as it wasn't my fault. car goes into the shop next monday at noon and they're going to have it for about a week. then i get a rental car  Enterprise already called me and said based on the information they recieved, i'll be getting a Malibu or a Grand Am or something in that size range. whatever they give me, it better have some decent power for a small car.

Oh man, I must've been away when that happened...... that sux you got hit....

ah, ok, a recap since you weren't here....

was coming down a one way street. a van in front of me stopped to parallel park. i stopped with plenty of time/distance from the van.

*WHAM*

looked up in the mirror and saw 3 teenage kids in a car (99 Sentra). they were freaked out.

the kid admitted he looked the other way and when he looked back it was too late.

my son was in the back of my car. he was fine.

rule #1 get the highest estimate possible, then get it fixed somewhere cheap, pocket the rest

problem with that is there's not very many great shops in the area and the labor rate at all is about the same.

i just want it fixed and don't feel like dicking with different shops. hell, if it was warmer out i'd just have a shop fix the quarter panels and blend the paint, then i'd get a new bumper (cheaper than their price) on my own and install it myself.
