Good am's -- To belt or not to belt??

I probably train in equipment more than most on this board. I wear a belt when squatting. It is probably because I am a pussy. I have squatted and done GM's without a belt, but when I do this, my back is sore for days. If I wear a belt, I can use more weight and don't hurt so much the next day.

That being said, I have always worn a belt squatting, and I wish like Hell, that I had never worn one, because if I had not, then my core would probably be stronger right now than it is, and I could handle heavier squat poundages.

Benchmonster, I hear what you are saying. I always trained
squats and DLs with a belt. Without a belt, I have to use
much lighter weight. I am being told that my poundages will
quickly return to close to normal and at meets with the belt,
I should be able to kick ass. At least that is what I am being
told by one of the local WS gurus. I am going to give it a
shot.
