notice that this thread has gone on 4 pages and just 1 comment from a mod (RADAR). where are the other mod's comments and explanations. i think george owes the members (especially the platty's) an explanation for this policy.

obviously this policy is contradictory to the overall attempts at discretion people hope for as members/posters/info seekers on elitefitness.com

I posted quickly and try to remain non-specific, because there is nothing worse than hysteria. I assure you, if law enforcement has a warrant they can easily monitor your traffic. I meant that your MAC address can be used to positively identify you and your machine. But I agree that it's not good to give an easy foothold to just anybody that can pay a little $$$. It also gives a way to conduct a stealthy warrantless investigation, perhaps the scariest part. Knowing you're being looked at is more than half the battle.

Law enforcement can't monitor the traffic on these servers since they are located outside the US. The only way they could is if they received permission from the country they are located. I highly doubt they would do such a thing for steriod users.

If you do a traceroute, even the hop above it isn't in the US, so you'd have to sniff a lot more than just EF traffic.

What kind of idea is that. How are people suppose to voice their feelings on an issue that could easily lead to abuse.
Elite mods maybe should have it to do the work of alterhunting, but IP addresses to anyone with 900$ is far too dangerous.

I would have to think that this was just something not conceived of and GS always asks for feedback. This was important enough for a thread and obviously the feedback is decidely against ready access to our IP addresses by God knows who that pays for the chairman status.
It is a feature that SHOULD be deleted ASAP. Then balance will be restored, also the mod board should be offlimits as well. At least retroactively b/c mods may have posted confidential info only to be shared with mods.

Now people can read that and disseminate it freely.

I want the only information about me is what I freely volunteer in name, profile and my posts. Absolutely nothing more.
And I believe with a few exceptions, all of the members here feel the same way. Already yesterday, a new Chairman posted someone's IP address and its listed as a feature of going Chairman. BAD IDEA!! Should not offer more access to information about members here. Thats what its selling, IP addresses and MOD discussion of certain members. Breaking down anonymity.

Mods often PM people to help resolve conflicts and that makes its way on the mod forum but nowhere else. Selling that information of members here is just wrong

I get a laugh out of this - all those damn posts about protecting people's info and taking the fed to court to protect us. Pure BS - now a fed can shell out $900 and have a ton of that info.

Good luck gents and ladies - I'm quitting EF. It just isn't worth it.

The mere fact that GS would even come up with this idea, let alone implement it, shows where his heart is - and it isn't in protecting us.
