Im wondering if you squat all the way down and you on your toes not flat footed is this okay? my friend has short achilles tendons which will make him unbalance and fall if he goes flat footed, would this be okay?

sounds like a bad idea to me

I had the same problem when i was learning how to squat but i eventually got it right with practice. I think its a flexibility issue more than anything. Squatting on the toes isnt a good idea at all

its impossible for him to put his heels on the ground his heels arnt long enough when he drops down, but is there any subsitutes for squats?

i think converse is a very good shoe to wear when lifting.. i can't tell you from experience, but i've heard they're an excellent choice of shoe. Also, it might help him to curl up his toes to he has to stay on his heels.

Tell him to get some Olympic lifting shoes...best money he'll ever spend.
