FUCKED up news...

welcome to america, land of the free. when dumbass laws pass instrad of sitting on your ass in front of a reality TV show.

Maybe now you'll write a letter or make a phone call when dumbass laws passes ad politicans campaign on bullshit instead of sitting on your ass in front of a relaity TV show.

Apathy comes home.

As to the case, I am sorry bor, I've been through the system from many angles. 2 years state jail, seems unlikely, I know arsonists who did less.

Then again...drug laws.

Never heard a defenese atty say something could not be defended either.....lazy maybe. Get the other kid on the stand, etc

Trials are expensive though - another consideration.

good luck bor

Seriously...this shit is fucked up. I've known so many people, with SUCH bad records, who've done MUCH worse and gotten probation or shit like that.

I guess that's NH for ya.

Welcome to the war on drugs and mandatory sentencing. Brought to you by the wonderful idiots of the reagan administration. This is why prisons are over crowded and they let actual criminals out so they can put in some poor schmuck who sold an ounce of weed or a gram of coke to a "friend".

Cheers,
Scotsman

That's what pisses me off...if he did something worthy of going to jail for...fine, I wouldn't make a fuss. But selling a few ounces of weed is hardly worth a year in jail. Plus his life will be completely fucked. He won't be able to get a job...he's already lost a job because of this, and he got turned down at interviews because it said "pending case" when they ran a background check.

So before it even went to trial and got a conviction, they fucked his job situation...what if he was innocent? I guess that doesn't matter, huh?

Nope, you're still guilty in the public eye until proven innocent, and even at that there is always an air of suspicion.

These guys don't care how fucked someone else's life is. They're "just doing their jobs". *gag*

Ugh...I feel so fucking helpless...and you don't even know what this is gonna do (and has already done) to my family. My father is a retired firefighter, won the god damn medal of honor, and this will fucking kill him...literally.

Exactly if it had been like a couple of kilos then yeah jail time but two fucking ounces? Yep he won't be able to get most jobs, buy a gun, go to any accredited college, get some loans, and some other shit.

If he is aquitted of this and can prove that is why he lost the jobs then maybe he can do a civil suit for punative(sp?) damages.

NH, wow.

So much for 'live free or die'. I lived up there for a year.

if he goes in, best thing you ca do is support him, visit, bring hi whatever you can (books, pads, pens etc), county jail isa lot of sitting on your ass and passing tiem with nothing.

No, his lawyer said he should take the plea, cuz if it goes to trial he won't be able to do anything...he says it's "not defendable."

And he says if it goes to trial, he'll get 2 years in state prison. I just don't see a judge sentencing something like that for a first offense.

State charges are always trumped up......there is no one on this board who could give you the correct info you are looking for, unless A. they have been charged with the same offense in the same state/county. B. they are a practicing attorney in said state/county.

The only way someone could give you an accurate disposition otherwise, would be if this was a federal charge, then there are basic guidelines, and departures for first time offenders.

Your best bet is to check the local laws, and get all the facts. I have had multiple friends get fucked on state charges, for small time shit federal is always better, but for the most part they will plead it down to a state level, unless a maganitude of federal resources were used to secure the charge.

Good luck bro.... :)

Yeah...they got this drug task force up there...and from what i can gather, they spend a shitload of money busting petty criminals...I'm sure people in NH will feel a lot more safe knowing some kid who sold a couple ounces is off the street.

I don't think they've busted too many other people...not that i've heard of at least.

Because they're cowards and they know the petty criminals don't shoot back. :chomp: The people in NH are in huge trouble if they're doing this instead of going after large crime. Either that or they have large crime so in hand that they need to reduce the budget 'cause these folks have way too much time and money on their hands.

Yeah...from what I hear (not sure if it's true) they actually have a problem up there with rapist/molesters.
