Front squat

I've decided to use a semi wide stance for both the squats and box squats (mostly to preserve my screwed patella (knees))

What about front squat ?

I've never seen anyone using wide stance for front squat ?
(seen in videos/internet because I've never seen a real guy doing front squats in my gym  )

For me, doing front squats with a fairly wide stance, toes pointing a little outward helps a ton. I've had surgery on my left knee and am still missing some cartiledge and a PCL but still go well below parallel on front squat.

I would have to question if the focus would remain on the quads as much with a significantly wide stance.

Do you have a pre-existing condition?
Is flexibility an issue?
Are you wearing oly shoes?

What are you looking to gain from going with a wider stance?

Well wide stance still does hit the quads quite a bit for me, as long as the knees go forward - pretty much a given with frontsquats :)

1] I want to preserve my knees

2] The wide stance "uses" less the quads but the overall posterior chain so much more than I think it's worth it

(even though I'm flexible enough to almost go ass to the grass w/ shoulder wide stance)

I rotate front squats into my routine about every 4 months. I go wide-stance, that being about an inch wider than shoulder-width. I really work on allowing my butt to get to the back of my calves. Great for overall leg and hip strength.
