I have torn both rotators in the past few years. I even had to take a year off which was harsh-it was part of the reason I went back on. Anyway, it turns out that my chest draws my shoulders forward which makes my shoulders injury prone. Just thought some of you might want to look into that to see if your chest is affecting your shoulders.
The solution is extra attention to developing the rear delts and rhomboids along with serious stretching of the pecs. You may also want your physical therapist to "release" your pecs which, on the pain scale, is about ten times worse than your IT band so be warned.
