? for the girls about girlie stuff

Sure, anything that will help. She has an appointment for an annual but its a few weeks away- I am going to try to get her in before then.

bleeding between periods, or "Spotting" is nothing to worry about & is totally NORMAL when you are on the pill.

The lower dose pills (mircette, alesse) are more likely to cause that breakthrough bleeding relative to higher doses of estorgen.

Normally you are supposed to wait 3 months for your body to adjust to the pill & the side effects (spotting, etc.) to go away. If you still have the problems after 3 months, you can try a stronger pill. A higher dose of estrogen is more likely to prevent that breakthrough bleeding.

BUT the higher dose of estrogen... well, we all know that's not a good thing. more weight gain, bloat, & for me more moodiness. I tried different pills & I just chose to deal with the spotting.

& yes, skipping the 'inert' pills - the week where you're supposed to get your period, is perfectly healthy & fine to do. I don't know that it will make her more likely to have breakthrough bleeding though.

You CANNOT skip periods if the pills are not all the same dosage (same color not including the placebo pills).
She should consult her OB/GYN before changing her cycle especially if she has PID.

Did it for years with no problems pre-IUD. I didn’t spot until the 3 or 4 month point so just planned to have major PMS while I wrote out the check for my quarterly taxes.
No more spotting. ;)

I agree with Raina...she should at least place a call to her ob/gyn if she doesn't want to go in.

You can skip periods by continuing your bc pills and many women do this for example if they are going on vacation and don't want to be bothered. My doc had me on a fairly low dose pill but suggested I just continue taking them without getting a period at all! I definately had some break through bleeding but not for that long....have her call or schedule an appt. I'm sure it's normal but better to be safe.

Good luck!

Thanks girls, I appreciate the advice. She isn't spotting, she is having a full on period so I think it is some other problem. Her family has a history of fibroids so she is worried about it. She is going to get an annual hopefully in the next day or so. She kept taking her pills and had a period that has been like 9-10 days now, something is wrong I think. I am hoping she is ok and its something simple. Fingers crossed.

Another question in this vein

Not wanting to clutter the board with a new thread.. but I have a question along the same "womanly" lines.

It is normal after stopping birth control for your period not to return? I stopped taking mine about a month and a half ago... and I am just neurotic enough to be worried about the fact that I have not gotten my period this month. (about two weeks late)

Any insight?

Can we have training info, plus height/weight stats etc please. These things depend on so many factors, can't give advice without full info.

5'2" 105lbs. I do circuit training 3 times a week, cardio intervals three times a week. (although, this being the week of my univ. finals, I haven't been so consistent.) I don't know my BF%, unfortunatly.
