i didnt play football this year, for a few reasons. first, i would've had to miss the first 4 games for a suspension i got going for me. but mostly, i didnt play because my main goals right now are powerlifting-oriented. oh, one more reason is because i messed up my back a couple weeks before practice started.

i sit and i watch ppl play, and i watch games on tv, and i still get goosebumps as if i'm on the field myself..i know that if i played this year, i would've had a spot on the varsity d-line and possibly o-line too. i was pretty damn good, if i may say so myself..

now i know that i cant play this year, because i have to join something else to get rid of my suspension and then i have to get my injuries healed (i tore my glue/hamstring insertion the year before, now i gotta fix my back too.)

is it at all possible to gain strength on the big 3 during the football season, or not really?

football would be secondary to me, but the main thing is powerlifting. i miss the action but i dont miss the loss in strength

I agree with you, when I play football I get goosebumps, its the shit to me. But right now I am focusing on getting stronger and maybe playing my junior year. I either want to play a linebacker or a running back, since people tell me I am quick. Gonna work on my speed and do corn's training program.

how old are you?

i believe i could play o-line, d-line, and possibly a little in the backfield. i wouldnt know what to pick. last year during practice i subbed for halfback. through practice, i averaged 15 yards a carry.
i used to be awesome at sprinting and i was pretty strong too..i dont know if that holds true anymore though

damn this sucks...too bad a person cant get a scholarship for powerlifting, lol

Can go pro and do shows, I know a guy that use to do powerlifting shows, he was pretty good. Hes a bodybuilder now though, he lost alot of his strength switching over. He said he use to be able to do 530 bench, and i saw him one day struggle with 405. He tore 1percent of his pec muscle a few months before I saw him do that so that might of had something to do with it.

I played high school football from '94 to '97. I started middle linebacker all four years. I can probably help with this. It is not likely that you will gain strength in the powerlifts during the season and it is not likely you will keep all of your strength either.
You could at best maintain most of it. Its hard to be good at both at the same time. Concentrate on the lifts off season and try to maintain during the season. But to be honest off season I didnt like to bench press that much. If you really sit down and think about the movements you use tackling and blocking etc when playing football there are certain exercises/grips that you should use. I can explain my off season and during season workouts if you would like.

My off-season workout was like this.

Monday
Closegrip Incline Press
Dumbell Bench Press
Push Press
Lateral Raises
Tricep Pushdowns

Wednesday
Hang Cleans(every other week)
Squat
Stifflegged Deadlifts
Calf Raises

Friday
Deadlifts(on same week as doing hang cleans on Tuesday) or Powercleans(on the weeks you dont do hang cleans on Tuesday)
Bentover rows
Pullups or Pulldowns
Straight Bar Curls

On Tuesdays I ran 1 mile(slow jog) then ran 8x100 meter sprints
On Thursdays I ran 1 mile(slow jog) then ran 10x50 meter sprints
On Saturdays I ran 1 mile(slow jog) then ran 5x40 yard sprints and 5x20 yard sprints.
