I had an interesting discussion with my trainer regarding some of his girls who were at a national level comp this weekend. They were following this 3 day water depletion, under the direction of someone who is used to training & competing at the Pro level. They all came in bloated from too much water - they didn't deplete long enough. The problem appeared to be that because these are amateur girls (figure), they were not as anabolic as a Pro normally would be. Therefore their bodies couldnt' process water out fast enough on a 3 day depletion. Instead my trainer recommends a 5 day depletion where you take your weight in oz of water on day 5, and divide that total number up by 5, such that you are reducing your water intake by 20 % each day up until the contest, only sippign water on that day. So If I weight 135 lb (I'm female) on Monday precontest, then take 135 oz water. 135 / 5 = 27oz. So:
Day 5: 135 oz
Day 4: 108 oz
Day 3: 81 oz
Day 2: 54 oz
Day 1: 27 oz
Day of - sip
Day after - not sure how this works, but start increasing slowly again instead of diving straight into several gal of water. Generally you woudl want to ease your body back into regular levels of all foods so it doesn't rebound.
Damn. That aint' much water. I believe I"ll be trying this in 3 1/2 weeks for my show. I'll update then.
