I recommend the oil ONLY for convenience.  If you are going to be taking flax over a long term, try ground flax seeds.  Raw Flax seeds will keep MUCH longer than the cold pressed oil, they taste better, they are cheap, easy to store, and a great source of high quality fibre and complex CHO.  Plus they contain 
I use my blender to make coarse meal out of the raw seeds and keep a weeks worth in the freezer.  I add it to salads, tomatoe sauces, BBQ sauce, Tzatziki (Mediteranian cucumber sauce), Oatmeal (after its cooked), and almost anything with enough moisture.
