Flax seed oil nasty? NO

I've been doing some reading on this board about flax seed and how nasty it is to take. I just bought some "health from the sun" flax seed oil, took a spoon, and slammed it down. It's little slimy, but it's not nasty at all. It's got a little nutty flavor, but that's about it. I don't know what all the fuss is about.

This brand has longer selflife than other brands. Does this mean, they added some other chemicals to make it last longer? Anyone know?

gotta admit tho still sucks to take it, 100 cals a tbsp no flavor what so ever.

I'd rather be eating something else.

My flax didn't taste that bad, but at is sat in the fridge and when I was near the end of the bottle it started tasting rancid, so I guess it just gets worse as time go by.

No why yours has a nice long shelf life tho, anyone?

Not sure what to look for, for added preservatives,

mabe they just ship to the store faster

It says on the label that it has 1 year of shelf life versus 5 months for other brands. Also in their ingredients, it has citric acids to preserver freshness.

I wonder if citric acids is doing the job...

I remember reading on this board, can't remember who said it, that you can put flax oil in the freezer to extend it's life. He said it wouldn't actually freeze however. Haven't tried that yet, but I might.

And yeah, as swallowing pure oil goes, it's not that bad. I still prefer to put it in my shakes though.

Make sure you shake it lightly. I made that mistake the first time I tried flax and when I got to the bottom a lot of crap had settled at the bottom making it off color and nasty tasting.

i mix it with my protein shake. don't bother with the caps since you need to eat about 10-15 caps just to equal 1tbsp.

You know that's exactly what I forgot to do. Shake... I knew I was supposed to shake, but I forgot.

I will try that after work today.

BTW, what is the best time of the day to take the flaxseed. I found a lot of people take it with their salad or with the protein shake. I also heard that you shouldn't take it right after working out. I just took my second spoonful this morning with empty stomach. Anyone know if that's bad?

I wonder if you should take it before or after a meal. Anyone got insight on this?

Also I heard that you are supposed to take a tablespoon per 75lbs or 100 lbs. That means I roughly need to take 1.5 tablespoons a day. I know a lot of people just take a spoonful and call it good for the day. Does it matter?

im not sure which one is first......... flaxseed oil or liquid amino acid???

both taste like pure butt
