Flax Seed = Linseed

I was at a natural heath store today and was looking for Flax seed oil. The lady showed me a bottle that read, Linseed oil. I told her they are not the same thing.
She showed be a back of seeds that read organic flax seeds and in french it read Linseed.

Is linseed flax seed in french?
Or are they false labels...

I always thought that linseed oil (which I get from the art supply shop for thinning paint) wasn't as "pure" or fit for human consumption as flaxseed oil (which I get from the health food store)

There's a chain of health food stores here in the UK called Holland & Barrett.

They sell Flax Seed Oil and the containers also say linseed oil on them.
