i would tend to disagree considering that flax oil slows the digestion process. In other words, once you finish your workout, your body needs the proper amount of carbs and protein to jump start your system and it needs it ASAP. Flax oil would just slow this process down which is why i only use it first thing in the AM and right before bed in a protein shake. But never post workout.

I agree with Cure %100. Flax with morning protein shake, flax with bedtime shake, but never post workout.

Correct me if I am wrong but don't you want to spike your insulin with high GI carbs post workout to push carbs and protein into muscle cell. If you mix fat (Even flax?) with high insulin levels won't that only make you fatter? Even if the flax is used for energy (cals) it does slow down digestion process.
Flax is great besides post workout. It make your protein shakes with milk taste like Jack in Box Shakes (well almost)

Will Brink recommends just a tiny bit of good fats after workouts. So he would probably say a spoonful of flax oil. In other words, on some occasions a very small amount of good fat after a workout may be a good thing, but the amount of fat you are talking about adding would be a mistake. (You mentioned adding the flax oil for the purpose of adding calories, so I would assume you would be talking like 10 grams or more.)

Personally, to try what Will Brink recommends- adding just a little bit of good fat- I sometimes blend a can of water packed tuna in my postworkout shake. But then again I am sick in the head.

This is the correct answer. Fat's slow digestion and post workout is no time for slow digestion...Hence Whey protein and high GI carbs are best ingested at this time because of thier speed of mobility. Post workout you want to get nutrients into your blood ASAP to initiate recovery. Fats will severly impede gastric emptying.
