I found 16 within my Zip code, and this is a small town. 2 of those 16 were convicted in 03 of Sexual Assaut on Children

Most of the ones on the list have indecent assault charges, but it makes me wonder what they were really arrested for. Rape charge + uncooperative witness OR lack of evidence OR a "he said she said" deal that would be hard to prove = plea bargain for a reduced charge.

There's one that live across the street from the elementary/middle school in my area, he lives with mother in her house, the house he grew up in.

How's that for disturbing?

Not so long ago when a women lost her kid (don't get me started) and there was a massive search, friends, family, local neighborhood, police and off duty fireman the first place they went was his house.

The 6 year old kid was found 9 hours later sleeping in her bed.

When she couldn't find her mother she walked home, took a bath and put herself to bed.

That's weird that the kid went home and went to sleep.

Sex offender laws can be weird, IMO. As much as we, as a society, want to point the evil finger at all sex offenders and run them off a cliff to their death, I think it's more important to know the circumstances behind their being labeled a sex offender. Not all sex offenders are child molesters or rapists, but without knowing exactly why they're a sex offender, it's hard not to pass an instant judgement on them.

Case in point - When I was 7 my parents bought a house. Found out a few years later that the family across the street had a son in jail for murdering someone (not exactly sure when it happened). For years I had the image of their son being a cold blooded murderer, and a lot of people considered him to be one. It turned out he had gotten into a fight at a bar over something stupid and the other guy ended up getting killed. No weapons were involved either. I think he was convicted on Manslaughter charges. He was eventually released and a friend of mine was working for him a few years ago. Said he was a really nice guy. I never met him.

I went to college with a girl who was arrested twice for indecent exposure. She flashed her boobs at a bar. This makes her a sex offender and she needs to register where ever she lives. I believe there should be different levels, she is not going to harm anyone, but everyone in her neighborhood knows she is a sex offender.
