Finally my first real Deadlift 1RM PR post!

Well 6 months ago I tried deads for the first time ever for a max and got 365 for 1. I felt that was a good start for never doing them. Anyway last Friday night I decided was a good a time as any to try again for a 1RM. This is how it went

135x8
225x5
315x2
365x1
405x1 I knew I had this one no problem
455x1 Heavy but I still felt there was a bit more left
475x1 Lots of straining but I pulled it!!!!!!

What a great feeling lifting something so heavy. Granted it's not amazing but it made me feel pretty awesome. My buddy and I are the only deadlifters in my gym so there were lots of stares when I did it. I want to try for and even 500 maybe in another month and that will probably be my lifetime max on that lift. I feel I don't need it that much. I'm also planning to start slimming back down pretty soon.

Like I said I'm going to try for 500 in about three weeks right after the first of the year, and hope to get it on video with my buddies digital camera. I'm a bit pissed that I didn't get the 475 on video but oh well.

thats a great pr bro, you should be very proud, the 500 club is just around the corner

Awesome job man!!!

What are your plans that will help you pull the 500?

Not sure what to do really? I plan to maybe make a few more heavy pulls for less reps. I'm now at 360 for 5x5 and think maybe switching to 5x3's with like 405 or so? just for about three weeks then give it another try. Also I did a bunch of sets with the last max trying to find where I was at. Leaving one or two out might help me save some energy for the big 500? What do you think I should do?

if you're still progressing on 5x5 keep at it, then when you plateau on that do the 5x5, when that comes to a halt, then go for the single max, I bet you will really surprise yourself

I'm starting a diet in 2004 either first of January or the end of it. I'm worried that if I wait to long and take to much time training for the 500 that I'll miss the opportunity of being extra heavy and strong like I am right now, that's sort of why I want to rush it. I guess it's not the best idea though?

What should my next max warm-up look like in order to get 500?

Last was this
135x8
225x5
315x2
365x1
405x1 I knew I had this one no problem
455x1 Heavy but I still felt there was a bit more left
475x1 Lots of straining but I pulled it!!!!!!

I'm thinking of
135x8
225x5
315x2
405x1
465x1
500x1?

Any suggestions?
