Fat to muscle

I know it's supposed to be difficult if not impossible to cut and build at the same time. But is this logical?
1. I eat just enough calories to match my BMR.
2. I burn 3500 calories a week, cardio+lifting to lose 1 lb/week of fat.
3. I trade 3500 carb calories in my existing diet for protein instead.
Wouldn't the lifting and extra protein build muscle? Maybe not a lot, but some?
 
Yes, you can still build muscle while losing bodyfat. You wont gain much but you can gain some. The more muscle you have the more fat you will burn. If you are in a serious cutting phaze than I highly doubt you will add mass.

Actually, in complete beginners, it is not unusual (from new nervous systems developments) to gain a lot of LBM as soon as you hit the gym, no matter if you are in a calorie deficit.

For people who used to have mass, there's this phenomen some people call "Muscle memory"...

However, for most of us it will simply not happen. You would be lucky to maintain 100% of your LBM during a cutting phase. A very succesful cutting program will have a 80-85% fat to muscle ratio...

Simply put, if you are in a caloric deficit, your body will not invest the precious calories it gets building new muscle. If you lift VERY heavy while cutting your body will try and keep the LBM it has to avoid being crushed, but it lacks the energy for Hyperplasia.

Good point but i do cut & build (or at least maintain weight) all the time!, the biggest problem is catabolizing, I do massive cardio to loose bf, while lifting heavy, and eating approx 2k cals. something like 70/20/10, the only way ive found it to be sucessful is to consume massive amounts of protein, and im on any anti catabolizing suppl on the market!

What ends up happening is that my weight actually stays exactly the same for weeks,while shedding fat like crazy and keeping nice lean muscle mass. So the mirror then becomes the scale! Its a slower process to see the results, but not slower than say, loosing it quicker muscle and all, then building it back up, done that, hate it.
