Expand your chest measurement by 9 inchs?

Doktor Bollix said:
Look, you can't expand your ribcage. It is not possible. Maybe a young teenager could conceivably stretch the costal cartilage a tiny bit. I even doubt that; or as mentioned if you have Polycythemia, which I hope you don't. This is one of those myths that gets perpetuated like lowering your biceps insertion with preacher curls and shit like that. I'm not knocking you, I'm just affirming that yes, that article, which is 90 years old or so, is basically bullshit.

that about sums it up. merci.

all the naysayers will jump in talking about "feel", now saying they "feel" it stretch.

they "feel" their intercostals stretching. when you "feel" your connective tissue (ligaments, tendons) stretching.....you are injured.

have a nice day. :)

*takes a deep sigh*

Since I am already fucking up my CNS doing overtraining, I might as well go the whole 9 yards and kill myself. As of today I will be doing this for 10-15 minutes everyday. Will post my year end results and my overtraining results at the end of the month... why do I have a funny feeling that I won't be able to move come august?...

btw the main reason I decided to do this is because alot of pro trainers advocate doing something similar to this, but on a bench and with a dumbbell. Every video I've seen that showed it said it was a great way to expand the chest area.

pro trainers?

thats funny, every certification i have doesnt say anything dbell pullovers for expanding the ribcage. matter of fact they dispel that myth rather quickly.

Okay cool.
I pretty much guessed the answer was a NO....But i thought there might have been a few BUT's....as in age (younger kids doing the movement)

My body structure teacher said "i have no idea....but the elastic cartilage might be able to be stretched for a few days" ......i doubt it

This method has been around for years. There used to be something popular called "breathing squats" where you do a high number of squats followed by pullovers. This may be the same thing as the article mentioned. Your chest will not expand 9 inches. If it does you have serious problems and need to go to the doctor.
