Endurance training and Volleyball

Ok.. So i recently finished beast/epi cycle, using hcg and need2slin throughout the 4 weeks..

My primary routine (through the 1st 2 weeks) was high reps primarily for the legs.. HIIT training for the rest of the body.

After pct i ended up with 4 lbs weight gain from my normal weight, keeping my normal waist size.. (36") 220 lbs about 16% bf

The real test will be when i hit 12% bf and how much I weigh, last time i was there last year i was 202..

So we'll see how my body comp ends up..

Anyway, Volleyball.. it's been 1 yr since I played, i normally can get about mid forearm above the net, (weight being 208-212)
net height is 7'11 5/8" for those of you that do not know.. I'm 5'9"

Last night i was elbow high above the net, we played 3 games, and no soreness 3 days later..

My leg press routine during this time was high rep with low weight
150 reps
30 sec rest
150 reps

all with 300 lbs.. I did this routine 2 times per week for 4 weeks

So I surmise that I have indeed accomplished mitochondrial re education changing my physical ability through this type of training..

My next experiment will be to apply this training principle with my back routine, we'll see what happens, I normally have a fairly think back..

Oh, did i mention i'm almost 50 yrs old??

That's awesome! I've got at least 10 years on you, and I wish I could do that!

My wife tried out for the Oly VB team in the 80's, and 2 of the girls she coached have made the team. She is a few years younger than me and 6' 1" and can still get her boobs above a woman's net (she was an outside hitter).

She attributes it all to box jumps and cleans. It did something, because her calves are better than mine and she has tree trunk quads, and hams & glutes that are hard as rocks - all with barely lifting anymore. So the point here, is that she has kept at least 90% of her ability minus the quickness all without training for it anymore. We really think that it was due to the 25 years she spent playing and training for it all. She is also the only reason I believe in plyometrics. But that is another can of worms I don't want to get into now.... ;)

As for your back, I'm not sure you would see similar results. At least not to the degree you are seeing with your legs. If memory serves, (I am not where I can look this up) I am not sure that the fibers of your back are of the same type as your legs (or at least in the same ratios), and since jumping is really an explosive movement, I'm not sure it can carry over to your back. You will probably be able to get a faster pull on your DL off the ground - which is a great thing to have - but that might be the extent of it. If that is all you get, I would be really happy with that. A faster pull will carry to a bigger pull and of course a higher jump.
