If your flaxseed oil tastes nasty, it is rancid - throw it out. It only keeps about 2 months and MUST be refrigerated. It should have a slightly nutty flavor. Granted the taste and oily texture won't be to everyone's liking, but fresh flaxseed oil should be easy to mask in other things.
