i didn't like Gore either but in hindsight, i would elect Gore for the next 100 years if it was just between him and jr every 8 years. Deficit spending republicans is why we are where we are today. We're spending too much period, obviously....both parties do. But the republicans put everything on the credit card, and have done so since the 80's. Only reason we got away with it for as long as we did was because we print the worlds reserve currency....so we basically shit money for free. Goes to show you that the Republican party is dead, finished. The D electorate keeps growing year after year, and the Republican electorate keeps shrinking. The Repubs are going to HAVE to re-package their image if they ever want a shot at ever winning a Presidential election again. It's not the policies that turn people away, it's this idea that Republicans are rich, angry white men who are out of touch with society. However true or untrue that may be, they're going to have to get back some of the electorate, and it's not going to come from Obama.
By 2016, the economy will be vastly improved, and the Dems can take full credit for it. Then, the Clintons and Obama can campaign for a year, backing whoever the candidate will be. Could be Hillary, I'm predicting Andrew Cuomo. It will be a fantastic setup, and Cuomo will be our President in 2016.
UNLESS...The Republicans pick Marco Rubio to run. Seriously, he's the only chance the Repubs have at taking back the electorate. You must stop trying to motivate people with fear...fear of minorities, fear of gays, fear of what's different. The homogeneous America is gone. Deal with it. Embrace it. Accept it. Work with it, not against it.

i agree and understand a lot of what you are saying, and believe you are the queinesseitenal vote the GOP should strive to get...professional, well informed, fiscally conservative, and minority (added bonus).
Socially the GOP is stuck in the past, they lose the 5% of voters needed to overcome the left on social issues IMO. yeah.. I don't either. I lived in a country with the Parliament .. like Canada eh. A few thinks that work surprisingly fast. Snap elections and then select to Prime Minister.
One thing that sucked is you had to get in bed with some real trash parties for your coalition to get the majority and ultimately select the PM.
It is indeed divided, I hate to say. Some of us live in reality, and some of us live in a world where a muslim socialist has usurped the presidency and is systematically taking our rights away (yet they are never able to list which rights weve lost over the past 4 years).

I have never made comments about Obama's race, religion, or nationality. I do truly believe his core beliefs are in wealth redistribution and I do not have the same beliefs.
I think he has done a reasonable job with foreign policy. Not a fan of most of health care reform. Cap and trade was a complete abortion. But most of all I think he believes he is above bi-partisan policy / negotiation.
We shall see if the second term changes that.
