Eatings bars before & after workout- help or no?

Underwraps

New member
I have these bars from a certain brand (don't know if I'm allowed to say) and I'm suppose to eat one before working out to access the calories from fat vs my muscle and then eat a protein bar after so again my body doesn't cannabolize on my muscle. Does anyone else use bars like these? I also drink a glass of protein shake about 1 hour before working out too. Good things to do? Not doing something right?

pre w/o should be a whole meal minus the fats. chicken, broccoli, and a sweat potato would do. post w/o should be a shake whey protein and glucose/dextrose followed by another meal about 30-60 minutes later. you can name the bar you are eating here. i doubt its any good. the only good ones are high fat which is no good around the w/o.

Thanks.
They're Melaleuca bars. I stopped being a member of this multi-level company, but stocked up on their bars b/c I had to buy a minimum of stuff every month. As for the shake, I bought Premium Protein from Costco. 1 gram of fat/ 2 scoops. The Melaleuca pre w/o bar is called Access and has 3 g saturated fat (wow!?) and 7 sugars, 2g protein. The post w/o bar has 7g of fat (wow!) and 14g sugar, 15g protein.

thats all crap (not meant to offend). your protein amounts are verry low. id shoot for at least 30g each meal.

I think I'm confused. 2g of protein per bar and they are marketed as "protein bars"?

Stick with that Costco protein. If it's the product I've heard people talking about elsewhere, its supposed to be pretty good quality stuff.

the eas premium protein is mostly concentrate. whey concentrate is the worst form of whey there is.

huh i wonder what it is. thats the only stuff i see there other than muscle milk.

The Costco stuff is called "Premium Protein Time-Release Formula" and is by Century Foods International. It's a big 6lb bag. 26g per serving (2 scoops).

Oh, the pre-workout bar is not a protein bar, but and "ACCESS" bar so the body doesn't go to the muscles for calories or something and goes to the fat instead. The post w/o bar is the protein bar, btw. Thanks for all your input evry1.
