How did I do?

In my opinion pretty good. If you look at the numbers then it looks bad

I finished fourth out of four competitors.

My class, the middleweights, was the hardest class. Before we went onstage the mc told us to put on a good show because we where the only class with everyone looking good and able to make the audience scream. He also said it would be a very hard class to judge.

Two judges had me 2nd and one had me 3rd while the rest had me 4th.

Even the winner had some 3rd place votes from judges.

By the way the class winner was RoNiN from Elite Fitness, very nice guy, he also won the overall.

I am not disapointed because

1) the other guys that beat me looked great
2) I looked the best I have ever looked on that day
3) Judges, The show MC, Higher Level competitors and even competitors in my class told me I looked massive, symetrical and full and have great potential. The only thing lacking was a little condition.

The judges told me I could have won the overall and that show easy if I would have been in shape. That is enough to motivate me for next time

Some people told me I could win any show I enter if I can get shreded. About 1-2% more lean.

I was the biggest guy in the show mass wise. I weighed in at a very depleted 173lbs @ 5'6.

The winner RoNiN was 170lbs but 5'10. The other guys in my class where 165lbs and taller than me.

I am getting the developped pics tonight and may post a couple tomorrow. Actually I have to post atleat one I owe you guys that much...

Drexx , you looked very dangerous. You are very thick and muscular. You have great potential of getting very big. If you keep it up and continue to progress you could get as big as lee priest.

Canadian Bodybuilding really puts alot of importence on conditioning. I have seen alot of competitions where the bigger guy loses to the leaner more ripped guy. It has been that way for at least 10 years now so I doubt it will change that much.

I agree with Drexx , the middleweights was by far the toughest class in the entire show. All of the guys were in very good condition and very muscular. In fact the guy who placed in the top three was the masters champion.

>Even the winner had some 3rd place votes from
> judges.

After the show I was told by some of the judges that my hamstrings could have showed more. He wasn't sure if it was because I wasn't flexing them hard enough or if I needed better conditioning. He was one of the judges who placed me 3rd. As far as I know the reason some of the judges had me at a lower placing is because I went flat on stage in the last comparision of pre judging.

>I am not disapointed because
>1) the other guys that beat me looked great

>3) Judges, The show MC, Higher Level competitors and >even competitors in my class told me I looked massive, >symetrical and full and have great potential. The only >thing lacking was a little condition.

I agree 100%. As far as I'm concerned as long as you are better then your last compeition or at least learned something new you will be a successful athelete.

>The judges told me I could have won the overall and >that show easy if I would have been in shape. That is >enough to motivate me for next time

I can see that as a possibility. If you were ripped I don't know if I would win , at the very least it would have been very tough.

>The winner RoNiN was 170lbs but 5'10. The other guys >in my class where 165lbs and taller than me.

I was too light for my height. I need to focas on more size in order to be more competitive.

My off season start's this Sat. and my focas is on adding more size to my legs and arms. My shoulders could improve a little on the front and rear so that I can look thicker on the side.

I worked really hard for that show and I was exhausted after. Some guys wanted me to hold my peak for another three weeks and do a regional show but I just can't do it. I need to add more size in the off season and then I'll compete again.

You did a great job Drexx. It wasn't your day but that never means that you don't have potential or a future in the sport. If I thought that way I would have quit a long time ago.

Enjoy the off season.

RoNiN: Thanks friend!

That means a lot comming from someone like you. You looked great and I am glad you took our class and the overall.

It must of felt great. Luck had nothing to do with it. You had your shit together and that's what made you the champion.

I hope you post your pics.

For the others RoNiN is a very classy guy and he was very nice to me during and after the show. Cheering me up and encouraging me to keep competing. The sport needs more guys like him.

I got some pics scanned today but didn't have time to blotch out the face so I can only post the back poses...

Be kind I am sensitive :)

If you look your best at a show, your a winner competition is tough these day. With you attitude you
can only improve. Good Job

hey Drexx

Where'd your hamstrings go??? I'm just jokin' with you bro. You're in much better condition than I would ever be. I'm 6' and 250 give or take a pound or two at around 20% haha. I just like to eat and be big, but then again I'm a bouncer and not a competitive bodybuilder. Good luck on your next contest bro.

>It must of felt great. Luck had nothing to do with it. >You had your shit together and that's what made you >the champion.

Great isn't the right word , shocked is more like it. I
never thought it would happen and It caught me by surprise.

I'm still trying to accept what has happened but at the same time I realize that things are only going to get tougher so I have to keep focased on improving.

>For the others RoNiN is a very classy guy and he was >very nice to me during and after the show. Cheering >me up and encouraging me to keep competing. The >sport needs more guys like him.

Your a nice guy as well. I understand how you feel because we are both travelling on the same road. I see no reason to be unfriendly , what is the point , we all worked so hard to get there and put ourselves under the gun that day. At that point you might as well have fun and support all of your competition because we are not really competing against each other , we are competing against ourselves and what the judges think.

Some day we might compete again for an overall and you will take it , it all depends on what happens that day.

If you compete again next year I will be there cheering you on Drexx.

For those of you who still cant see the pics

You are a good inspiration for me!
See ya!
LG xx:)

yeah WTF italianfagboy? i dont see your pics up there.
drexx, you looked great. keep up the great work. i am sure you will be very successful in the future in this sport. maybe next time, try not to move the day before the show;)

I know the moving on thursday before the show did really impact my diet, cardio and posing practice in the last 2 weeks.

The way I see it next time it will be that much easier with no obstacles :)

U aren't really cut(lower back and under the bottom) and not so big.....

I was going to ignore this but...

A couple questions for you Italianboy!

Did I ever say I was really cut?

Did I ever say I was very big?

I didn't think so!

Look back through my thousands of posts and you will see I have never said I looked good or anything similar and I have never put someone who posted there pics down.

Congratulations to you both.. It takes alot of work
to compete at any level..

Oh yea, Italyboy, I say no picture = No comment

DOGGY

It seems the EF boys kicked some ass on saturday. I won my class also and got 2nd in the overall! Congrats to all on your achievements!

Whats wrong with you Italianboy.....? Offer constructive criticism but you have no right to be an asshole...what are you jealous? I rarely post replies like this cause I often think they are largely useless....but sometimes I get annoyed and can't help it.. Im 75% Italian and am proud of it...but you make me ashamed you Grape-Stomping Spaghetti-Bending Guinea.....whew....I havnt had a rant like that in awhile....LOL
What's wrong w/you???
And don't tell you are 75%Italian...I don't think!
Drexx didn't a good job...Do you guy think if you say "Great!Very GOOD JOB!"" will help Drexx to emprove?
Critics are the best way to make another better IMO
So carry on sayin"Good job"if you like, but Drexx can do much better then this!!!

This is what I like to see in bodybuilding - competitive friendliness. Too many bodybuilders are bitches, it is nice to see you two helping each other out. As far as I am concerned anyone that has the determination to step on stage is a winner. Congrats to the both of you.

You look great bro!

And even bigger props to you on your attitude. I think your a winner in every sense of the word, keep it up.

BTW, if........no, when you hit it big. Remember us small timers back here at EF. ;)

Thanks for all the great feedback guys!

Even you Italianboy... I know I am not perfect and I posted the pics for you guys to finally see what DREXX looks like not to get compliments.

I know I need more conditioning and that is what I will aim for for next contest.

I won't get as fat offseason and I will start dieting a month earlier for the next show.

I think I was just about a month late in my prep to be ready.

Good work Drex--You look good-You have plenty of size------For your next show, you wont have all the chaos going on in your life and you will be that much better!:)

Drexx and Ronin....nothing but respect and praise for you guys.I'm 49 days out from my show and thanks to guys like you posting your pix and reccomendations. e.t.c it really helps the rest of us know what we're in for. Also the attitudes that you guys display is very modest, noble, and friendly...something that is very rarely found in this sport.I wish you both the best in this sport.Lift Long and Prosper!:fro:

Drexx,
great work you have good genetics and a lot of potential. If you can add a little more size to the arms, hams and calves your physique would be more proportioned and very hard to beat.I compete now and again myself and i know how hard it is to peak on the day,so once again congrats.RoNIN how about a pic?

This post started 3 months ago.

I wish I looked like that now :)

48 hours after the show I was up 12lbs and maintained that for about 11 weeks without any gear.

After almost 3 months off gear I just started another cycle 2 weeks ago and I am already up 9lbs.

Can't wait to compete again.

You've got my respect, Drexx. Excellent work -- can't wait to see you compete again. Congrats to you both. Sorry I missed this post the first time around!

I remember the June 14th Ottawa's in 1997 quite well. You must know Rob Lagana, he won the heavyweights and overall that year. He's from the Ottawa area.
So you won the middleweights and overall? If I remember right you had either blue or green trunks on. You had a nice athstetic physique with a small waist.
The heavyweights were HORRID. They looked like a bad junior division.
Are you doing a level 2 show? The same promoter, Craig Stevenson is having the Kingston And Eastern Championships on Oct 20. Level 1 and 2. Are you going to check it out?

>I remember the June 14th Ottawa's in 1997 quite well. You must >know Rob Lagana, he won the heavyweights and overall that >year. He's from the Ottawa area.

I first met Rob in 1994 in my first show. I had no idea what I was doing and just walked to compete for the first time in the juniors as a 17yr old. Rob won the show at 20yrs old and he wa a very nice guy. One of the friendliest bodybuilder I have ever met. He doesn't compete any more but he is still in shape from what I have heard. He looked very good in 1997.

>So you won the middleweights and overall? If I remember right >you had either blue or green trunks on. You had a nice athstetic >physique with a small waist.

Thanks for the compliment. I was in the blue trunks at the finals.
Currently those are my strong points but I'm focasing my off season on getting a big and as thick as possible and maintain the waist as much as I can ( meaning no roid gut ).

>The heavyweights were HORRID. They looked like a bad junior >division.

The overall turn out wasn't as good as previouos Ottawa competitions. I would say other then the middleweight and fitness divisions the atheletes were not ready for the competition or they didn't prepare well enough.

>Are you doing a level 2 show? The same promoter, Craig >Stevenson is having the Kingston And Eastern Championships >on Oct 20. Level 1 and 2. Are you going to check it out?

I'm dieting for the East. Ont right now ( holy shit!!! , less then 7 weeks out.... ) and I will see what happens there. Just like the Ottawa I'm going to do the best I can and learn as much as I can. After that whatever happens will happen.

Cheers...

Right on..Good luck there. I have a few friends doing the level one show. I did the Level 2 show light heavies back in '98 at the easterns there.
Also the Windsor Cup and Ottawa 97' Juniors. Overall though the Windsor was the best most competitive show, and huge turnout.

Drexx, your side chest looks thick and full as your arms do also, the only thing I really see wrong is your hams and calves and your overall condition is a little watery, but this is in no way a flame,I have yet to enter my first comp, but I do know a good deal about it,All I got to say your ass had to go through the diet, posing and all the rest of contest prep and all your work paid off, congratulations and the best to you in future contest!

P.S congrats to you to RoNIN for the overall, good job

Thanks , Hey FlexBailey , are you the guy who qualified for the Provincials but backed out because of a pec tear?

I think I know who you are , I have seen pictures of you in the newsletters. If you are the guy I think you are I want you to know that I'm very impressed with your physique and you are an inspriation. I have had pictures of a "Bailey" up as a target to shoot for when I'm getting ready to compete. Great conditioning and shape , I would like to know who you prepeare for competitions and what your off season is like?

Yep, that was me. Unfortunately I blew my pec out in may of '99. I was planning on doing the 2000 Ontarios after putting on alot more size but I obviously didn't get a chance to.
I did get the surgery though a year ago and things are looking better. My pec though still isn't 100%. I'm weighing in at 230 pounds and rising.
My qualifications have been stripped since I haven't competed in the 2 years time line so I want to do the Ottawa level 1 next year.
It REALLY sucks that I have to do level 1 again, it's not really fair seeing as i won everyshow I did with a perfect score and spent so much time and effort on each show not to mention money.
I'm actually better now in alot of aspects..like my shoulders caps are getting better and better and legs as well. My overall shape is better I think and all the muscles except my chest have taken on a more mature look.
I stopped the juice as soon as I tore my pec until a year and a half later when I got the surgery. i still haven't done any major cycles as I'm not really big on the sauce. I won that junior show drug free and had never touched any steroids before. I did do clen however.
I'm very strict with my offseason diet. I eat and upwards of about 4500 cals..with about 60% of it coming from protein and about 30% from carbs and the rest fat. I have one junk day as most do.

I was really impressed with your physique when I saw it..I'm personally a big fan of athstetics and shape. That is what I pride my physique on.
I wanted to go pro as I had alot of important people telling me I had/have the potential to..I just need this pec to heal up.

I guess we'll see..

FlexBailey , it means alot to have a compliment from you. I have admired your success for the past 3 years and I looked at your strong points as something to aspire to. I was very impressed with your condition and shape and when I saw the first picture in the newsletter I was like "Fuck....that guy looks good". I have no doubt that if you can stay injury free you will make it all the way. The fact that you are going for the 2002 Ottawa makes me very happy that I competed this year ;-)

Our diet sounds very similar , what are your favorite off season juices .... and cutting.... in your personal opinion?

I like Equipose alot..I think i'm starting to not like sust though because I feel my nipples hurting again..on to the nolvadex now.*L*
D-bol obviously are great for size but I get very bloated off of it which I hate. I take my weight up to close to 250 and diet the hell out of myself to get to a shredded 195-200 pounds. I did the Windsor show as a warm-up the same year I won the Easterns. I went in at 201 in fairly good condition and there was about 40-45 contestants that year. I was a little nervous as I knew I wasn't in top shape but again I was there for a warm up. I just wanted top three but ended up taking the whole thing. It was my best show when I look back in terms of excitment.
I haven't really gotten back to 100% eating and juicing as my body isn't 100% ready. I know i'll explode when the time is right. Like I said i'm 230 pounds and fairly lean. I'll probably finish this 8 week cycle at around 235-238.
So what are you using for this show? Is anyone training you by the way or are you doing it by yourself?

I think your back has some great cuts, and with your attitude you will only place better in each competition you enter bro... Keep up the great work
YUM

Its great to see that there are other competitors here. I, and others, learn alot from your experience. If it wasnt for you guys, I wouldnt have been successful in my last show and I thankyou for that. Good luck to you Drexx and others that have shows in the future!

So what are you using for this show? Is anyone training you by the way or are you doi

Well I like Winny but I have never tried eq at precontest so the combination should be interesting.

When I compete I eliminate everything that can cause water retention and just try and preserve muscle while I'm dieting strict. I did find during the precontest phase for the Ottawa that I gained a little lean mass even when dieting strict.

I have a similar opinion , I don't like dbol or a50 because I feel like shit on them and it isn't quality weight. Deca and eq are very nice and nothing beats test for off season.

As far as training nobody has ever trained me , everything I have learned and everything I do is either self-taught or aquired though trial and error. I suspect that if someone did train me from the start I could probably be where I am now 2-3 years ago but at least now I can full credit for what I have done.

Drexx-

You look great! Overall, very impressive.

Cut up those legs a little more, and you will be all good to go.

Again, good job

Ronin, that's great that you train yourself. I had a trainer for each and every show all though if I come back i'm going to do it myself since I think I know myself better than my trainer does, well I know I know myself better. I just hate having the stress of thinking while you're dieting, it's better to leave it in someone else's hands but if that person is no longer of use there really isn't any point.
Laura Binetti is great from what I here..she can make average guys into class winners, and good guys into suberb athletes.
I've thought about getting with her next time but she's ALOT of money and I think I know enough to get myself to the provincials again in style anyway.
Do you know the promoter Craig Stevenson very well?
He trains alot of the guys around the area although I don't know if he does anymore since he's living or working with Muscle-Tech up in Toronto.

>Do you know the promoter Craig Stevenson very well?
>He trains alot of the guys around the area although I don't >know if he does anymore since he's living or working with >Muscle-Tech up in Toronto.

I don't know him , I heard him , Scott Able and Laura Binetti are the best coaches in Ont. If I had the money and I was competing at a higher level with big stakes ( i.e. sponsored ) I would consider them as an option. In the end I still feel learning about how you work and learning to trust yourself are key to success.

I agree. All the "Good job bro"s are nice, but when u post a pic, you should be willing to accept honest (and helpful) criticism. Fuck, you should WANT criticism.

And I agree with Italianboy: Drexx should come in more cut next time.

If you do go with one though make sure it's Laura. I've heard bad things of Scott, not to say they are true but they'd certainly make me weary. And if you do be prepared to do shitoloads of drugs and pay him out your ass. They guy is more expensive than Laura. Last I heard Laura charges $500 just as an initiation and $100 every week you see her. So basically you're looking at about $2000 for her plus all the drugs plus food and you got a heafty bill. That's the one thing I found not right about competing. It'a an awesome rush and all and extremly rewarding but when you think about the amount of money put into it and usually only a trophy in return is given(and that's if you're lucky like you and I) then it kinda seems strange.
I know a guy I beat up in Windsor apparently was doing the GH as well as shitloads of sauce. I can imagine how much he spent on a show.
I guess that's why they say "when you go pro you go broke".
I guess if we're to keep it up we better have a damn good job or atleast super connections to support us.

MkZk:

Italianboy came off a little harsh but I posted pics for the criticism and that's what I wanted.

If you look after that I thanked him for his criticism.

DREXX know's he needs to be more cut next time and so do the thousands that have viewed my pics. No need to state the painfully obvious :)

Next time I will start dieting a month in advance and then I will whoop some ass.

I wont compete in the same show as Flex Bailey though cause from what Ronin is saying he looks pretty freaky :)

You look good Drexx so no worries. We all have points to bring up. Your attitude will only lead you to successful things.

I'll be in the heavyweight class next year IF I do the Ottawa's. I have another store owner up here who's doing it aswell. A BIG MUTHA FUCKA. This guys like 265 with the freakiest veins I've seen. Him and I are kinda friends and went up to the Arnold Expo this year in Columbus Ohio. Out of all the FREAKS up there he was even getting some attention. He's doing like a gram and a half of test a week along with over 10 D-bols and shitloads of deca and EQ.
I'm not worried about getting on stage with him though cause i'm sure i'll out class him. He competed in Windsor the year after I did and got 3rd out of 3.
It's just not very fun having someone a good 30 pounds heavier than you on stage..makes for a long night.*L*
He'll be about 230 on stage and i'll be about 200-205, shredded of course:)

There's a CHANCE that I may compete regardless if my pec is fully better or not. I'm waiting until January to make the final decision.

I am getting married on June 08th next year. Which is about when the Ottawa show will be held.

I will be sure to go see it but I wont compete unless it's a couple weeks before or after my wedding.

Next time I compete is going to be Oct-Nov 2002 for the Kingston Show.

I have 14 months to go so I can use 10 months of clean bulking (staying at 10% bodyfat) and then 4 months of dieting should dial me in.

Drexx, whats your cycles going to look like until you compete? What do you plan on weighing in at?

By the way, good luck with the wedding prep!!!! You will need it! Just say "YES" to whatever your future wife says!! Works for me!

Td24:

I haven't planned my cycles out yet.

Now I am doing...

1200mg of Test Enanthate per week for 5 weeks (but with the long half life I have a good amount for 6-7 weeks)

6 weeks off

600mg Test Enanthate per week for 7 weeks
500mg Deca per week for 6 weeks

6 weeks off

???? probably Test, Deca, Dbol

I want to be a light-heavy for sure. I will come in as best conditionned as I can so I don't know the weight. I know I wont limit myself to middleweights though since it's hard to diet down to 176lbs.

I am trying to let my wife do everything and just agree with everything she says. But she insists I do some stuff as well :(

Oh well, I love her!

I'm with you. I think my Middleweight days are through!! I dont want to diet down that hard anymore. Now Im nervous about doing good as a heavyweight.....I guess it never ends!!

Thanks Yellow , I would love to see all of us compete against each other some day at the international level. You should include Bailey as well because he has got potential.

At 5'11'' I'm eventually going to be a heavy at my full potential. For now I would like to be a legitimate light heavy in the next year or two.

Drexx , I didn't want to worry you , if you improve your conditioning you will be tough to beat no matter who is on stage. I hope you aren't feeliing any sides from that level of test though..

I am not worried about other competitors. As long as I do better then my last show and I am moving forward I am happy. It's a contest against DREXX not against others.

Actually, the TEST cycle is almost 20 days in and really no sides.

I am only taking 25mg of Clomid as an anti-e right now. I have some nolva on hand but don't have the need for it atleast not yet.

The only thing I noticed this cycle for the first time is a little hairloss. Hairloss as never been an issue before but now after I shower and dry my hair I notice some hair in the tub.

It will be my last test only cycle though. I want to focus more an anabolism from now on.

So my next cycles will always have some test 400-600mg and some anabolic like Deca, Eq or Primo. I will rarely use orals mostly to break weight plateaus for 2-3 weeks or winstrol for contest prep.
