Drawing and Pinning - Change Needles Or Not?

Change needles after drawing and before injecting or no?

  • Yes I always change out the needle, it's not safe otherwise.

  • No I don't change it and I've never had any problems this way.

you want the edge of the needle to be fresh.. even if it touches the plastic cover i change it.. even if i draw out of an amp and it touches the bottom of the glass i change it!! never inject yourself unless its a sharp and fresh needle that hasn't touched anything else.

now as far as drawing I have no problems drawing with a needle that is clean and using it to draw again and then obviously switching out the needles for a fresh one to inject. as long as the needle is not used or dropped etc you can draw with the same one. the odds of getting an infection are so slim that it would take a miracle doing it that way. but obviously I am not gonna inject with the same needle that i used to draw, as i said ALWAYS you want a fresh needle to inject. and throw out the needle you used to inject, don't re use that one to draw.

the drawing needle should never be mixed up with the injecting needles.

Use one needle to draw and one to pin simple as that. There cheap and nothing sucks more than a dull needle.
When I was a rookie using 20g from the feed store it was one to get'er done!

nothing wrong with doing that, better to be safe than sorry I suppose but to those that say it's necessary you don't know what you're talking about.

It's not necessary at all if you get a flu shot or any other shot from a hospital they don't change the needle after drawing.
It's more of comfort thing especially if your drawing from multiple vials and pinning often.

yeah, that was my point.

Nothing wrong w/doing it that way if it give you peace of mind, but to say it's necessary is false.

Sterile technique is the fundamental here. Open fresh alcohol pad and wipe the vial stopper for 10-15 seconds. It is now sterile. Open needle package remove needle cap. Aim thru the center of the sterile stopper, invert & draw. Obviously, don't impact the bottom of the vial with the needle.
Draw the product to correct level. Aspirate any air bubbles, wipe injection site with alcohol pad 10-15 seconds and inject.

YOU CAN SWAP NEEDLES IF; USING MULTIPLE VIALS OR YOU'RE SENSITIVE TO PAIN. There is no sterility issue, however.

I 've just used one needle most of the time and have hundreds of injections under my belt and never any issue. (23 gauge 1 1/2" needle in 3 ml syringe)
The needle remains sterile as long as you don't touch it or lay it down. The contents of the vial are sterile so as long as stopper has been properly wiped, needle stays sterile.

YES it does slightly dull the needle but it is still plenty sharp to pierce the skin, it does hurt about 10% more than a virgin needle, but that's nothing compared to the gym.

ps I have been injected by doctors, never once saw them waste a needle...

I've always drawn n injected from the same pin. Heaps of cycles. Not one infection or absyst. Even drawing from multiple bottles.

I always change them out. I never did before but for that extra piece of mind I do now. I don't think it matters. The needle is a bit more dull and can hurt more.

I'm on TRT & they send enough syringes with draw needles & inject needles...plus that extra 1% of piece of mind (I like to worry, it seems)
