Don't fully understand the concept of bulking...

I just want to make sure I get how this works... If I were to binge my brains out, I'd get a lot of fat over my muscle, no? How does it make my muscle bigger and better? Is the idea that my muscles will be able to "grow into" the excess size?

Please clarify for me 'cause I know im missing something and wanna understand before I start pigging out to chubbiness!

Thanks~

the basic theory is to gain weight you need excess calories... But gaining just muscle is very hard to do, just need slightly more calories than maitanence, this really limits muscular growth cause it is hard to gain muscle with only a slight increas in calories. By eating a little more and gaining a little fat one can add more muscle overall, over the weeks one will gain muscle faster, plus some fat. A person will then diet and try to lose all the fat the accumulated and keep a big percentage of the muscle they gained.

basically your bodies more readily willing to give put calories into muscle growth when there is a big calorie surplus. Otherwise its putting them into fat which is readily avalible to be used as energy.

Its all a survival mechanicsm. but thats the idea behind it.
You can bulk with clean foods too, and get large staying below 15%

I guess bulking isn't really for people that don't compete unless they want to look fatter then skinnier on off all the time :P

"You can bulk with clean foods too, and get large staying below 15%"
This seems like the best solution, by clean foods I'm assuming you mean bulk on healthier foods?

At least I have a better understanding now, thanks guys.

I think you should go to the diet board and read MR.X's basics to bulking 1 & 2. There is a lot of helpful information in there.

Never never never bulk with junk because its way too much work trying to burn off the fat afterwards (assuming you're a natty) and make sure you're as lean as possible before you even think about upping your cals unless you don't care how you look and are doing it for strength in which case binge away

Building muscle is the body assembling protein into a complex, functional structure. Like building a car from its component parts, that requires a lot of energy.
