I think someone's sexual past tells you alot about the person.
Does someone's sexual past matter to you?

Mostly I just like to have an accurate picture of someone's sexual past and want to know if they've been tested-- and not like tested once a year ago but recently been tested. I was with a guy once who was a total whore from age 14-17 and then took a few years off. He may have been with a fair # of people but he kind of grew up and changed his views on sex. In what way does do you think it tells a lot about a person?

Yeah, I suppose if someone told me they'd been with 80 people vs 12 it would be significant difference (more than if someone had been with 2 vs 4 or something close together). I have no real problem with people who've been with a zillion people though. I think everyone has a different view on sex. Some people see it as something sacred, some as something fun, some as something serious, some as something trivial. I think it's upsetting to think of young teens having sex though. I see girls pregnant and realize that I wasn't even kissing at that age.
I suppose it becomes a non issue to those of us who've been with the same person for years.

it depends. if the girl was trying to change, and she was std free and going to be moral about sex after that, then i wouldnt really have a problem. if she was a cheater and a slut and continued this behaviour, i would probably choose not to involve myself.

Me, I don't tell. That's up to the girl. Now the girls, I encourage them to tell me all (gf or not). I want to hear all about the experimenting, the wacky stuff, everything. I gets me going and, if I'm dating her, it will end up making her a very happy girl. I don't worry about the history being this or that (unless it involves cheating). I just enjoy.

I've read a few times in this tread that some people associate a person who's slept with multiple people to a person who's cheated. There is a BIG difference in my eyes if a guy has had multiple sexual partners vs a history of cheating.
I've never been bothered by the # of people someone's been with before me. I don't expect people to have just waited around me nor would I expect them to think that I saved myself for them either. That's just me though. I'd rather know up front rather than finding out a later.

Depends on what I am looking for with her. For a one night stand, you got to expect a girl with a history. For a real relationship, I would hope to be choosy about her past because it generally predicts the future.
I normally lower my opinion of someone if they have new partners several times a year every year. She has got to be horny yet have some self discipline. Tough combo.

Isn't that to be expected? I'd expect a good 3 new partners each year. Let's say that this here person only sleeps with people after dating for a while. Well, figure the average dating thing goes about 2-4 months. That's just enough room to fit in 3 new people a year, or more. Do you think the girl has just been waiting around for you to show up in her life?

Don't agree here as being single to me equals a free pass to have fun. When single at somepoint I will get tired of 1 day or 1 weeks stands and slowly want the feeling of a relationship back. When I go into a serious relationship its always one on one and I never stray. I think I never stray because when I was single I slept with whomever I wanted to and sewed the wild oats so to speak.

I will tell...but only to someone who means a lot to me. This is generally the way that I chose to look at it. A person's past is just that, their past. If I like who that person is today then I must accept their past because it has made them who they are...
I must somehow know that they are clean, though...even if we do use protection. There is just too much stuff flying around these days...

I would have thought she was using me. But since I asked her about her past I could understand why she did not want to and I was totally cool with that. You sure had alot to say about that curacao!! 
It would matter to me if maybe they cheated alot before, or if they were some kind of male prostitute. If it was a really high number, it would really bother me to a point where it would affect the future of a relationship. I would also be worried about any latent STDs that just havent shown any symptoms yet....*shudder*..

Danielson -- yep, right on. That doesnt mean that if I found out for some reason that the guy I loved had an STD and condoms would always be a factor Id jet. If I thought he was the most perfect person despite that little annoyance, and we would probably get married, then I will just have to overlook that as hard as that might be.

oh god damn... do a search with my screen name and "past" and its obvious that things make me fucking crazy...
i sit there and dwell on people's past. it consumes my thoughts, it makes me sick... it makes me think in a strange way like its all current and not "history". it makes me feel as if i am not special at all and i am just a number, a notch on the tampon holder (do they have tampon holders?). pasts destroy me and my feelings (positive feelings).
i've had conversations with many many board members about this... ugh... pasts suck...

I think it is important. If your partner has had alot, you're more at risk to get something whether it be crabs, the clap, or worse...AIDS. I understand you can have sex one time and contract something, but for the most part, the more partners you have, the more risk you have......the more partners your partner has been with, the bigger the risk of them having something......they might not even know they have it!!!

the reason they have something to answer for is this;
in the case of the guy and guy 3some, it was kinda planned, they bought and gave her drinks to try and lower inhibitions. She was consenting i admit, but she would certainly not have been if sober. So although they did not break the law what they did was ethically wrong. I dont know if i spelled ethically right.

Phychologically (My spelling is quite bad it seems) some people are 'happier' being miserable, if you know what I mean. It is said the only thing better than a perfect meal is an almost perect meal with one minor flaw you can pick at all night. I cant explain why she did it but I think a lack of affection (real affection, not lust) played a major role in the picture.

All I can say is that while I didn't invent the double standard, I get down on my knees and thank God for them every day.
I don't really think sexual past matters. However, Friday I was out with a buddy at the local bar and the bartender was this real HOT chica. Well I'm all over her like a whole heard of jackyls until my buddy says "Yeah, so-and-so says she's real good in bed." Shit...so-and-so is a total loser. Not that I am one to point fingers, but by all reasonable measures he is a disgusting loser. In fact, I think more people think he is a loser than think I am a loser...and that is saying something. Dang...I can't shake the imagery of so-and-so bouncing up and down on poor innocent Molly. I really was hoping she saved herself for me. Good thing the waitress was hot too.
