Can we all agree that rape isn't funny and shouldn't be a punchline? If you guys want the feminists to stop yelling rape culture, then stop giving them a reason to. A lot of guys are so wrapped up in themselves/their own privilege that they never really thought about rape, or rape culture for real. Rape culture is why otherwise good guys make rape jokes. No one takes it seriously.

I hear my players make comments about rape in a jokingly way. Not about raping girls though. They'd die on the spot.

They'll substitute comments such as "I'll kick your ass" for "I'll rape you.".

I had a player once tell me he was going to rape me. He won't ever be saying that again to me.



I'm recently guilty of this myself, as we all know. Harmless intention, but it really should be more concerning than it has been as a whole.

On a more serious note, when I was a teenager, I was the lead singer of a band with violent lyrical content that touched on homophobia and misogyny amongst other things. We released a couple albums on an underground label before being picked up by Columbia as part of a distribution deal. Our 3rd album ended up in Wherehouse, Sam Goody, Tower, etc.

The band was immature and stupid, and I was never particularly proud of it, but I did like the fact that other shitty underground bands have cited us an influence for the last 20 years. Recently I've become downright disgusted that I was ever involved with it, and I'll probably pull the DAT masters out and destroy them soon.
