i bet some ppl on this board are truely sick,,,others just pretend to be....im bulking now,,but i will be back to haveing definition in my midsection after the holidays(fat fuck now)

Depends upon the time of the year. I am a natty so when I bulk I eat a lot and get some fat. I never get a gut but you cannot see my abs. I am going to the Keys in January so I am starting to diet down tomorrow, which I am not very happy about cause I love stuffing my face every 3 hour while I am bulking up and switching to the smaller portions every three hours makes me a little cranky, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
 
I try to stay as far away from abs as possible!!! Pass the hamburger helper!!!!

I think abs are as much a genetic thing as anything else. I can eat clean and run forever and will still probably never see them. But I haven't had a gut in years so I can live with that.
 
hmm well it wasn't until 2 months ago when i started doing ab work with 5X25 alternating crunches and rev crunches they for the first time started to develope within 3 weeks. And no matter how much i eat or bulk they always stay there. I'm not complaining but there is downsides to being an ecto-meso of course. Unless i start juicin then they will really come out.

another funny thing i notice is that the shape of the abs seem to be genetic. I mean look at Ronnie Colemans (4 pack with an odd shape to the top abs) Vs. Arnolds(6 pack) Vs. Lee Priest(looks like an 8 pack has that indent in the middle) Vs. Lee Haney (his left and right abs are split by like an inch). My guess is that these shapes and designs are all genetic. but with the proper training im assuming you can bring them out and see what you have. but it's interesting to see the different types.
 
My abs are hard and visible, but that's because my metabolism is fast, and I'm naturally skinny.I'd glady trade both of those for an extra 10 ibs.I'd rather be stocky.

Interesting. Perspective is an odd thing. Ballast, I'd gladly hand over 10lbs to see my abs just once, just to say hello. Grass is always greener I guess.
 
I have been working on my six pack....well, it seems like forever.
Actually, for a year-year and a half.
I only have a 4-pack. So, I am starting another, 10 week low carb cutting cycle again tomorrow. Hopefully at the end of the 10 weeks I will be able to tell you all that I reached my goal...or, I will be able to tell you that my 10 week of low-carbs just got extended to 20!!

i got the six packs but they are not that visable... I had them since 6 th grade... used to do lots and lots of crunches back then because of some infomercial =) ...

anyways i can't wait to cut and see the abs again :)
 
I have abs....somewhere in there. At least that's what the anatomy book tells me. I lost them somewhere around five years ago and need to bring em back out.

I'm on the B Fold diet plan . . . Hamburger Helper 4 nights a week, large all meats pizza on Thursday night!! All gut here!

I was fat all my life long. but last year i decide to change.
I did a lot of cardio, worked out hard my abs. In seven months my abs was okay, some cuttings and all. In august I did my first cycle: it was test/winny> my abs got very hard. I never stopped working my abs, i really do love it. I'm not one of the biggest guys in my gym, but i one of works abs heaviest. I worked it out 3x week, now i do 2x.

i know they are there because i can fell em!!!!

i just cant see them............ i guess thats what happens when you put on 87 lbs in 8 months......... oh well........ i guess we want see them again untill december......... they will be ripped by april......... thats when the contest is

Yeah.....still progressing. Not as fast as I would like, but as long as I can see improvement I'm satisfied. I'll get those new stats to you at the beginning of the new year so we can see the difference and where I need to go from there.

You hit it on the head.

So many of the guys who don't have to WORK for their abs don't really care that they have them, and would rather be bigger. And all the guys with the muscles but also some fat want abs.
 
you dont have to work that hard to get abbs..... train your abs.... not like any magizine you have read

if your going for looks then do........
abs till failure once every 3 days

abs worked but not to failure every other day

or one set to stimulate each day.... nothing major

and then avoid the refridgerator

but for us power lifters....... bring on the refridgerator....... we try to eat everything in it and then try to carry it

I'm tall and skinny, but my abs suck unless I'm really restricting calories and doing a ton of endurance work.

Just as my name suggests, I'm skinny-fat!
 
Mine are starting to come back after 6 weeks on my diet.... I have another 4 weeks to really bring them out.

So they're definitely there, just still a bit soft....
 
I can see 'em but there no where near ripped, i want to make them stick out ,but is it a diet thing??? cause i dont do shit for diet.

I've been living off of protein shakes and small meals since summer- keeps at least the top 4 abs hard and visible, the two bottom are SO hard!
 
I am NO WAY near having a gut, but dont have a six pack, and dont really care...i dont want a ripped to the max set of abs, just a hard, sexy looking stomach..i guess you could call mine a four pack!!

I am bulking(as always!) and dont think i should be working on definition right now, maybe later on!
 
Hmm... how about rock hard, but no visible abs?

My obliques are cut up, but upper and lower abs aren't visible, yet the area is rock hard.

i had a six pack over summer that i worked real hard for, but since moving into college dorms, it went down to a four pack, but they will cut back up in time for spring break.
 
had em then lost them. I'm ecto so i'm fairly lean year round. I started some heavy cardio lost 15lbs in a month saw my abs and now I'm bulking to gain back what I lost. Too much strength went with the weight. I'll wait till summer I live in Minnesota so not to many people will see them for a few more months
 
I don't have a gut but you can't see my abs.I truelly do NOT care if I or anyone else can ever see my abs.As I get older I just don't care.I see all these ab products on t.v. and they make me sick.Where did this unhealthy obsession with ripped abs come from?Personally I'd rather have a small(Note I said small) amount of fat around my waste and be powerful then weaker and smaller and more ripped.
 
Problem is ya wanna get huge, but ya wanna abs to! I wanna eat less and do cardio to get my abs showing - no gut there though - but wanna eat big to get more massive!:freak: Guess I cant win...
 
I flex hard enough and I get a 2pac. Haha. Seriously, I don't have ripped abs, but I'd be happy with a flatter stomach, which seems to come and go depending on what I eat. I guess I'm relatively happy with my apperance, but there is always room for improvement.
 
I do not have ripped abs. My bodyfat percentage is too high to have ripped abs. how is that for an excuse. My gut, however, is rock hard. I am a powerlifter. I do not have a six pack, I have a keg.

I've got half way decent abs, but more of a 4 pack then a 6 pack. I still need to lose a bit of lower abdomenl fat (total fucking pain in the ass). If I can lose about another half inch, I should be totally set for summer.

Even when I bulk, I try and make sure I can still see them, even if its just barely. I think its pointless working out for years without being cut at least some of the time. I know people at my gym that NEVER bother cutting, and remain bulky year round. Whats the point of lifting if you keep your muscles hidden under alll that fat?

I was bulky for a long time, but I didn't get girls really noticing until I went for the ripped look.
 
Some people train for reasons other than to impress girls.

I am married and my wife is relatively narrow minded about me being with other women, but of course I would like to get noticed by the hotties anyway, but I am not willing to lose 80 lbs to look like John Basedow (Fitness Made Simple guy) or lose one lb off my powerlifting total.

Just my 2 cents.

Some people train for other reasons besides impressing chicks.

I am married, and my wife is fairly narrow minded about me being with other women (what the Hell is her problem?) but of course it is nice to get a look now and then from the honey's. But for me, it is not nice enough to make it worth it to drop any weight off my powerlifting total, or to get all emaciated and look like a damn fitness model.

That being said, the greatest swordsman I have ever known, is a big ripped motherflower, who stays shredded year round. This guy could see his serratus in December, no shit. So if you are not out of the game (like myself) it is probably more important to stay ripped if possible.

Just my 2 cents.
 
def. got em!! worked damn hard too!
hard and visible...only problem is the tiny layer of fat over the abs..
 
 


This was me nearly a year ago... 6'2" 162lbs.. 4% bf..

I am now 6'2" 192.. 6%bf.. abs are not as cut but still decent.. I'll post current pics later.

Ripped? NOT visibly! I teach kickboxing, so I get plenty of ab work...just have that nice layer of fat on top but it's definitely ripped underneath!!

I have a six pack but they are covered but not much. I just need the right cardio routine to get them to pop out. Can anyone help me. I dont want to lose too much muscle by doing tons of cardio but at the same time I want to burn as much fat as possible to get shredded abs.

I do Bicycle manuevers, captains chairs (When I'm at the gym), and sit ups on my 60 degree decline bench. I've been doing endurance training for 2 years (Since I was 15), but my abs havn't really started to look good until I stumbled upon this site

about 3 months ago. Ever since I started doing the Bicycle manuevers every day, my abs have looks great! You can easily see them during anytime of the day, when I'm not flexing. They're flat and look great when I'm walking around w/ my shirt off. I'll try to get a pic in order. . .
 
Abs are a biproduct of low bf. Im not worried about abs till my lean weight is where I want it. right now im soft but no gut 14% bf
 
If you don't want the flab, then stay away from beer, and other empty calorie foods/drinks.

My abs didnt really start to show until I kicked my junk food and sugar habits. Now Im almost totally sugar free, eat just enough fat to get by, and eat plenty of protein, and I love being healthy. I imagine I will probably become a veggy within the next few years.

Unfortunately i votted "Gut.. Definitely No Abs" Some of you have the 6 pack, i have the 12 pack. I'm so out of shape they could donate my body to science fiction. Fat people are harder to kidnap.

Seriously, I am out of shape but i just bought some "Clenbuterol" and "Cynomel" (did i spell that right). When i am done with that I am going to do a cycle of Winstrol that i bought in Thailand, Pattaya beach did a number on me.LOL.

I'm still new to this site bt i've already read alot of userful infomation and helping me get my fat ass in shape.

I wouldnt be messing with t-3 unless you know exactly what you are doing. that stuff can ruin your thyroid if done incorrectly. also why not naturally cut until you hit a rut. then throw in come clen. if your so out of shape you'lll lose weight right off the bat.
 
i got abs, but they are covered by a huge layer of fat that i have been working on for 18 months.
 
I am bulking now so I have the 4 pack, and bf around 14%. Even when I am cutting I can get down to 9% and still only see the 4pack. To me abs are over rated.

Girls love abs. LOVE THEM. To you maybe their overrated, but to me their a staple in the bodybuilding physique. To each his own.

I agree 100%. When I go to bars/clubs with mates they laugh at me for refusing to eat fast food and for sipping on my bottle of water while they drink beer. Then when we're talking about things such as training and sport they ask me what I do to get so shredded... Go figure.

When flexed, I can clearly see 6 'packs' on my abds (8 if you count the lower abds) and when unflexed I can still usually see them. However, I trying to add mass atm, so I'm not sure how much longer I'll have them for. :worried:
