training partners can be positive or negative. It all depends on the goals of both parties, they have to be very similar, if your trying to cut and your partner is trying to bulk, it is difficult to agree on workouts, exercises, reps, etc. Over the last 7 years I have had multiple lifting partners and only had one that I can honestly say I benefited from lifting with him. The only reason we stopped lifting together was because hi swork schedule got changed, but after lifting by myself for 6 months, we will be teaming back up starting this monday, all I have to say is, look out.
