good tip for gas :

chewing motion creates salivation within the mouth and is able to "tag" the different enzymes within the actual protein, therefore you’ll be able to break it down better. If you’re a person that has gas after ingesting a protein shake, then just chew the liquid and you’ll probably solve that problem. Chew it about five or six times, just enough to get the stimulation going.

I also heard that ginger root is good for digestion - but when I tried it I think it made my gas worse....

Ginger root is actually a common cure for motion sickness . . . I've personally never tried it to keep my gas down . . . but if it works, let me know - my girlfriend will thank you. :D
