Ummm, you need to eat about 6 meals a day. Add some veggies (salad, broccoli) and good fats (fish oil, natural peanut butter). That will be a great start to the starvation diet you're on. Good luck keeping any muscle mass with that. You're not helping your metabolism at all by only eating 2 - 3 times a day either.

Studies have been done showing that there is no difference between eating 3 or 6 meals (2 may be pushing it). Eating more frequently gives your metabolism more, BUT SMALLER, boosts than eating 3 large meals.

What it all comes down to is appetite control. Eating smaller, more frequent meals tends to prevent people from getting ravenously hungry and overeating. So, people end up consuming less total calories, lose weight, and credit the 6 meals approach (which I suppose is what does lead to the weight loss, but they don't understand the reasoning behind it).

If you take a closer look at all the little tricks of the trade, ie. eating 6 times/day vs. 3, cutting carbs after a certain time of day, and not mixing carbs and fats in the same meal, you'll realize that they all have a common theme: THEY REDUCE TOTAL CALORIES CONSUMED.
