Critique My Diet

Okay, it's not really and organized sort of diet. Right now I can't get out to the store, and get all olive oil or whatever and steaks for a CKD. I'm at 17% bodyfat, and need to drop like a mother fucker. I hate it.

So, I wakeup every morning and do mild-intensity cycling on an exercise bike for 40-60 minutes, depending on my mood. Then I get out and shower, giving myself about 30 minutes before I even ingest anything. I then drink a glass of OJ to restore blood sugar and such, and have a can of tuna mixed with ketchup (no mayo for me - it actually tastes really good!) in a bowl, sometimes I'll eat it on 2 slices of bread.

I also will every 3 days hit the heavy bag for a while, to get out some pent up aggression and burn some more calories.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I'm currently doing the Navy SEAL routine http://navyseal.s5.com/workouts.html - the physical fitness part anyway.

I go walking randomly when I'm in the mood on the trails near me just to get some fresh air, clear my head, and while I'm at it burn even more calories.

I end up having maybe 1300 calories by the end of the night. I try to eat little, if any, carbs. I have maybe 2-3 cans of tuna with the ketchup mixed in, a glass of OJ, a glass of milk or 2 (though I wanna stay away from dairy and fructose if I can - the OJ is just for blood sugar) and I'll drink around a gallon of water a day.

By doing this, will I lose this fat? Or will my losses just halt due to some technical little problem?

Also is it bad if I do this and don't eat alot of carbs, and then one day decide to "cheat" and eat carbs? Or is that okay to do?

My stats, by the by:
5' 11, 16 years old, 168 lbs.

Too much activity, too little food. That's a recipe for muscle loss.

LBM: 139 lbs
FM: 29 lbs

You should eat 140x12 in calories, that's about 1700.

Make sure to eat at least 140g of protein.

Stop doing the navy training. Do a strict hypertrophy routine, such as HST or DC to help you keep muscle while dieting.

Have you done a low-carb diet before? If you respond well, go ahead. But it isn't necessary to go low-carb to lose fat.

Nope, never have. If I decide to, what foods should I go for? Considering my income to be nil at the moment, I'm struggling for cash and such, so I can't really go food shopping and buying a variety of food.

I figure tuna, protein powder (which I have leftover), chicken (when possible), orange juice (restore blood sugar postworkout), milk (trace carbs but sometimes use it to wash down big meals - if not I can use water).

Would that be adequate?

In your situation you might be better off just trying a moderate carb diet high in protein and see how it goes. If the weight fat does not come off you can try slowly lowering cals or carbs.

Increase your meals to 5-6 a day, which speeds up the metabolism. No juices after 2 pm. Eat moderate carbs and high protein. I believe with your workout schedule, the mod carbs and high protein would suit you better.

No juices? You mean the OJ, right? I only have that post-workout normally. Can those 5-6 meals be of tuna, some with bread or something to give some light carbs.

I actually noticed Triscuit crackers are delicious, have good fiber, and alot of carbs! 7 crackers is a serving, 140 calories per serving, some protein, low fat and no saturated, and mostly healthy carbs (not much sugar)!

What do you mean with my workout schedule, the moderate carbs would suit me better? Because I'm doing the SEAL routine? Or because I'm constantly active or.. what?

How much fat do you have in your diet? Olive oil, as you said you were getting, has really helped me to get my bf% down.

As far as the carbs go, just make sure what you're eating are low GI and healthy sources of carbohydrates. You're probably getting a bunch of carbs already without even realizing it. Ketchup has 4g of sugar per serving (1 tbsp), and if you're eating that 3 times per day that's 12 grams of sugar right there. Add that to the sugars you're getting from milk and your OJ and you're probably up to around 60g of sugar...you'd probably do much better with slower digesting carbs.

And I know everyone gets sick of hearing about ketonic diets, but you could easily change what you're doing now to a MKD, using your glass of OJ as a pre-workout glycogen supplier and then focusing on protein and fats for the rest of the day. I think the results you'd see could be really great.

Best of luck!
