One of my friends was walking through the neighborhood last week, during the day, and had the shitten beaten out of him by two young African-American males....all for his wallet. He now has to have plastic surgery b/c his injuries were so severe. He's a very decent guy with an M.B.A., with a lot going for him---to have it fucked with by these two assholes.

I'm troubled by this. My emotions are getting in the way of what I think should happen to the two thugs that kicked, battered, and assualted him.

My head tells me they should get counseling, my heart tells me to beat the shit out of them.

As usual, my head will win out.............
 
well how much good do you think thats going to do to try and reason with some piece of shit dirtbags who caused that damage to your friend??For someone who is educated you should know better then this.

But the problem is that if the two thugs get time, they will only become angrier once they get out of jail. And, will again commit crime after crime.

I can't count how many times I've seen it said to someone else when he mentioned that someone involved in a criminal act was black or mexican.

Anyway, as a firm believer in the God-given rights of individuals, which include the right to walk through the neighborhood without worrying about being attacked, I am certainly not happy to hear of what happened to your friend who clearly did not deserve it.

Would care to, for a moment, imagine how things would have transpired if your friend had a concealed weapon permit and was carrying a legally obtained firearm? He would not have had to fire a single round, mind you. The simple brandishing of a deadly weapon is typically enough to cause an unarmed assailant to flee. If the assailants were armed, there would have been a greater chance that your friend would not be able to tell you the story of what happened to him. How do you think he would have fared against armed assailants if he were armed himself?

As usual, you say, your head will win out.... does that please you, or do you wish at this point that you had a more open mind?

I hope your friend recovers quickly and that his mental and emotional injuries are not as severe as his physical ones.

one thing is, in the city, you have to have street smarts. You have to have eyes in the back of your head, and to know when your about to get jacked. Sometimes it is critical to be prepared to fight or haul ass. You can never let your defenses down

I think I'm going underground for a weeks to rethink my whole stance on crime.
 
Actually what I think this shows is that we need to devote more money for law enforcement, and give kids a reason to live.............so they don't need to rob.

I disagree with that statement. He did not need to pull a gun. He needed to discern the situation. He needed to know he was a mark, and was about to get jacked. You have to know when something is going down. If he had, maybe he could have reacted better and fought the guy/guys off.

I have spent time with kids with criminal records, and some young adults.

I have seen it before and if I ever help again I will see it again. Some people I won't give up on but I won't expect many to make it and change the way they think. It takes a big person to change their views and charactersitics that got them in trouble. I wouldn't send everyone to the gas chamber, but bet your ass if you took someones life in a cold blooded way, had no remorse that was noticeable and were convicted I'd save the gass, and just drown their asses in a bucket of water to save some money.
 
Street smarts is only part of it. 2-1 odds is not very good for someone who does not fight on a daily basis. More money for law enforcement will only line the pockets of those who run the depts.

Right here in Phoenix, AZ the North patrol district is short something like 400 officers. The major stated that just because we are short does not mean we are going to lower our standards. If you have dabbled in drugs you won't get hired. If you have tried pot three times in your life you are permanently disqualified from being hired by them.

But, if you are a dropout, with a ged, and the bottom of the gene pool you will be hired. I can't tell you how many cops I have seen and worked with that should only be driving atari's, not squad cars and attempting to enforce the law.

So, you see, more money won't help. The dept's believe they need perfect people (those who have never done something wrong in their life) if you will for an anology, the blue-eyed, blonde haired, german. What a joke. Most cops are cops because they could not get hired anywhere else. Shit most, can't even write a complete sentence without a dozen grammer/spelling mistakes.

Who said he was being racist? He just described them as african american. They coulda been any race, he coulda said they were wearing orange vests, or had pimples on their noses. Now, if he called them niggers, that might be a little racist. And Warik, do you think he's implying that most criminals are of African decent? That would be just insane to think that!

No, the race should be mentionned. This is NOT being racial. If it where whites, it where whites. if black then black. Saying that it where men is racial too then????
 
This country is very violent. I moved here from Switzerland in 92 and have been in multiple fights and have ended up in the emergency room. I have had my nose broken and my throat split open to the point were I suffocated and barely came back to life. I also have had a guy stick a pistol in my mouth in DC(residence). In Switzerland I have never in my life encountered a fight even though we are all trained soldiers with life time military duty and year round combat training. We even bring our machine guns home and fire nationally 2 million rounds a year for fun and practice on the weekends. Why is it that even though every home in Switzerland is armed with automatic weapons that we are so peaceful and respectful to each other. Why is that the people here in the US are so violent and disrespectful to each other? This is from my observation of my 9 year stay here in the states. (Ryan I hear you!)

I'm very sorry about what happened to your friend...

I hope that you do let just enough emotion into your thinking so that you make a rational, yet strong, decision. IF I thought--and could see any proof--that counseling, rehabilitation, etc., worked, I'd be all for it. But, it doesn't. Eye for an eye, baby, no matter what...;)

There's nothing insane about that implication. I hate to break it to you guys, but you can't argue with the numbers. I took a class on the economics of crime at the Universtiy of Chicago (not some dumb fuck state school) and it really shocked me. Here's some facts I learned. Granted it was 2 years ago, but I think most of the data is still pertainant.

4 characteristics typically found in criminals
1. male
2. 18-24
3. under the influence of drugs
4. black

Fact: over 85% of gang members are black.

Fact : over 70% of inmates are black.

Look, I'm not racist, but you can't argue with numbers. Go ahead and flame saying the facts are BS, but I know what I was taught. Got a B+.

I'm a believer in personal hand gun ownership and protection (and I think Chesty will agree with me) but in most situations when a mugging or attack occurs, there is little time for the victim to defenc themselves.

These types of criminals strike quickly and with surprise. A handgun really does you no good if you cannot reach it and acquire your target in time. Like someone else said, your best defense is to be aware of your surroundings and look mean and attentive. Most criminals avoid difficult prey (unless they're crack-heads who don't think straight).

Anyways, hand guns are great for protection but they can't protect you in every situation.

YellowD, I don't think you've been here as long as the rest of us who discuss topics like this, so let me fill you in on what I was talking about. EVERY single time that one of us evil white men include a criminals race, we are deemed racists.

A few months ago someone said that some Mexicans stole his stuff. Bam, racist against Mexicans. Some other guy said that a black guy broke his window or some shit. Bam, racist against black people.

My comment to RyanH was to clearly point out that if race is so irrelevant, why did he mention it?

The reason RyanH DID mention it is because, although he succeeds in hiding it when he argues most of the issues he holds dear, he is a rather intelligent man. Race is relevant.

I completely agree. I was being viciously sarcastic because all of the boards' lefties criticize us evil whities when we mention race in regard to a crime. They tell us race is irrelevant.

Funny how the rules change when the shoe is on the other foot.

Isn't it required by law in Switzerland that every male between the ages of 18 and 40 (or something to that extent) carry a concealed weapon?

SIG makes amazing guns. I carry a SIG P229 with 40 caliber HYDRA SHOCK rounds here in the states for work.

I use the Sig Commando Rifle in Counterstrike, although I much prefer the deadly accuracy of an Arctic sniper rifle.
 
Yeah, but even a head shot in the game is non lethal with the commando, and it tends to backfire quite a bit throwing off your aim after the first 2 shots. Its a decent attack rifle though, for holding off incoming attacks.

i used your anschultz's btw.....VERY nice :D (but its not a good gun for someone with hayfever).

i do like the accuracy of the AWM at long distance though...its a bitch when reloading though ;) ....wheres a gluon gun when you need it :)

oh and as for the criminals....councelling does not work on anyone....if they did something that horrific, then councilling is the last thing they should get (i.e. jail, gang raping in jail, then councelling :) )
 
Soldiers are required to keep them at residence. But in Switzerland military is mandatory for all males. One serves until age 42 end even longer for officers. One must serve every summer to keep sharpshooting accuracy and physical agility. They also supply you with free ammo so you can train on the weekends.

Soldiers in Switzerland are required to carry a gun... But the military service in Switzerland is only for a few thousands...
 
Varnsen to correct you our army is not big but still 400,000 troops. We are not required to carry weapons in the streets but we are supposed to take them home since we mobilize extremely fast and are encouraged to fire rounds every weekend. Our summer training is actually fun since after duty we may socialize and hit the pubs.

Dude, do your community a favor, and get a gatling gun, and mount it on top of a van. Get like 5 barrels of ammo too. then go around the ghetto trash sections of town and blow the fuck out of any ghetto thug gang member trashbag you see. I have a friend who used to be strongly opposed t the death penalty, then about just over a year ago, one of his good friends was shot and killed in a drive by while biking by three fucks who wanted to know what it was like to kill somebody, no connection to the victim. (this actually was covered heavily by the press up here) Needless to say my friend no longer felt opposed to the death penalty. My point being you can bitch and moan about criminals rights, etc. But when one of those peaces of gutter trash does something to you or someone you know, your views will change. I say kill the 2 fucks if they get caught, 2 less peaces of trash roaming Gods green earth
 
I insist that the US gives up its system of justice. The statistics provide enough evidence for the united states to wake up and realize its justice system is not working. Rapists and murders should not walk the neighborhoods of our children. We need a strict system were murderers with expensive lawyers shouldn't be able to go kill again. In Europe when we watched the OJ Simpson verdict we were shocked in disbelief that he was released because of his fancy lawyers. If the united states had laws like Saudi Arabia people would be too scared to commit any crime because in Saudi Arabia its an eye for an eye, and look at their crime statistics.

It used to be mandatory to do a 1-year stint in the
army but that got rectified last year.
Now, the army has become a profession(Its been made
a professional service which is better) as of last year.
So, its pretty much the same as the US Army now
in terms of service.
