I have used creatine before in 94 after a major RTA, to help with recovery, what is the latest thinking on this suppliment? I have heard it has some detrimental effects on kindney function?

If you take 40g/day, your kidneys will get pissed, so to speak. Creatine aways seemed to work best for me at 10g/day.

Creatine remains a staple for many lifters. As with anything, there's no measurable consensus on it's efficacy, but more people seem to get good results with it than not.

Also, as with many other supps, if you take too much of it, it will tax your kidneys and liver. But I agree with spent, any more than 10 gr per day is a waste. Long as you keep the water up, sides should be minimal if any.

Perhaps the most well studied supplement in the history of sports nutrition, creatine remains the single most effective supp available to the majority of those that try it. Along with glutamine, vitamins/minerals/anti-oxidants, and protein supps, creatine should be used by all that wish to naturally build their physiques to the max.

Creatine is quite safe used sensibly at 5-10 grams per day after initial loading phase. I personally cycle it at 3 months on and 1 month off. I re-load each time I start a new cycle as this has worked best for me and those that I train.

Training Cycles? + Rest

 I'm pretty new to the weights (two months) and am at present doing a split routine alternate days one muscle group every 6/7 days, any opinions on this regime out there? also thanks every body for all the help and suggestions, ie creatine usage, HMP, immune system boosting, etc, thanks again.

Warm Regards

The one thing about creatine you must remember if you go to the doc for blood work make sure you tell them you are on creatine, becouse high creatine levels are a sighn of kidney failure. i dont know of any proven scientific proof that it is bad. although i would cycle it to get the best results.

High BUN is sign of kidney failure, High Creatinine is sign of dehydration, but yes you do need to tell the doc if you get tested.

i say read up on it before you use it.. I have not found any side effects with it.. except a mild headache when I first start everytime... that might be just me..
