Crazy thing that happened in the gym today

This guy that I sometimes workout with was benching today. He had 315lbs on there bar, when he took it off the rests it sliped from his hands. 315lbs came strait down on him, the bar must have bounced a foot off his chest. A bunch of us ran over and helped the spotter get the weight off him. To my amazement the guy stood up and laughed it off, he seemed more embarrassed than hurt. Two seconds later he lied back down and continued on with his workout.

It landed right on the meaty part of his chest, I couldn’t imagine what would have happened if it landed higher (neck/collarbone). Either way, he’s one tough (and lucky) dude.

I did that with 420, I got a little flat though! I went for xrays , nothing was broke but I was fucked up for a few weeks.

nah, id just shoot him and/or run like hell. but by the sounds of that dude, and satan, the bullet would bounce of and hit me in the face. then theyd pick me up and just toss me somewhere.

I bounced about 300 right off the chest, kinda weird feeling but I laughed it of as well...

when doing negatives make sure you find a spotter that is awake

A guy named Kevin Beer dropped about 400 on his chest in college with the suicide grip. Didn't hurt him either, and he was a 165 lb powerlifter. The suicide grip did not get that name by accident.

At my last meet, while I was backstage kicking chairs and turning over tables, somebody dropped 420 lbs on thier chest, but had a traditional grip. So nobody is immune, suicide grip or otherwise.
